Hi PJP. TameFarrar surprised me with the offer of wine, I said yes. If it's lost in translation, sorry. I get carried away & I'm afraid there's no cure. I'll think of a real help question sooner or later

why do all posts need to be checked my mods before going live?

I find it rather annoying especially in the 'Stargate Word Association' thread, lol

That came about after I wrote the Guide, though I suppose it would be a good idea to try and squish it in somewhere:

As with so many other things in internet life, the restrictions placed on "probies" can be blamed on spambots. Having a mod check all initial posts assures (mostly) that there are REAL people posting REAL content and not just bots telling you how to get a cheap cell phone or watch hit movies online for free or whatever. The spam issue (were the idiots posting graphic porn pics part of it, too?) got bad enough that Darren decided it was time to take draconian measures to prevent further incursions.

you only have your posts checked if youre a probie or on moderation

Their are no avatar levels anymore. You get all the GW avatars when you sign up and get the custom when you reach 2000 posts
