Deadpool Co-Creator Rob Liefeld Says Solo Spin-Off Is Likely
Despite the controversy surrounding the Weapon XI character in the upcoming “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” insiders keep dropping hints that Ryan Reynolds will reprise his mercenary role in a standalone “Deadpool” movie, if fans pull through at the box office.
Last week via Twitter, Liefeld posted that he had spoken with “Wolverine” producers who told him there were “definite plans to spin off Deadpool if the box office works.” This was bolstered by the fact that the film’s re-shoots included more screen time for Reynolds as Wilson, who Liefield mentioned, “was chosen specifically with the idea that he would carry [a possible] solo film.”
