I have a certain place for Star Trek, as I grew up watching it. I think Deep Space 9 was the most horrible ST ever created.

Only with a full-disclosure clause: We get to know where they are being built, how many they build, and oversight on the construction. There has always been mistrust even amongst our strongest allies. I don't see that changing...even though it really should.

The United Nations has an annual budget about the size as the New York City Fire Department's budget. They're not in it for the money.
