I love when people say something like... "So basically you mean..." and then type out something not even the same galaxy as what was meant.

Can you show me how anything I have said leads to that conclusion?
Seriously though, why does it matter if the only healthy relationship is between two women?
Is this a philosophical question? Nothing matters. Why is it annoying to me? Because it was predictable months before the show ever started?

Honestly, I don't care why you don't like that Wray is in a stable and loving relationship...
So imply its alarming with bigoted implications on my part, while not actually caring about what I really think. Gee thats nice.

If I thought you were a bigot I wouldn't imply it - I'd say so. I'm really not all the subtle when it comes to such things. As I said, I was being intentionally hyperbolic, but I should no better then expecting it to translate well online.

I also worded that sentence you quoted badly. What it should have read is "I don't care that..." not why, sorry about that.

If Wray has something good, stable and positive to go home to - what would she be willing to sacrifice to get there? What would she be willing to do? Instead of being upset that they are the only stable relationship on the show, think of the implications to has on Wray and how she is going to act on ship...

There are infinite posibilities for this show and all we get is story after story about stones. The previous Stargate shows were stuck in the alternate universe circle. Is there no one writing and directing these shows that has any imagination. All you want to show is who is having sex with whom.

I watch SGU and wonder what happened to Stargate?

I'll keep watching tho because Rush holds my interest. I'll just ignore all the soap bits and sex scenes and skip over it. They cant force people to watch sex scenes every week, can they? I'm hoping they'll get to some sci fi soon.

Life has been the greatest example of how SGU is trying to be a great drama, following the steps of Peabody winning shows such as Battlestar Galactica or Friday Night Lights.

The best part of the episode for me were probably the psych evaluations by TJ. The side-effect of the communication crystals can be an interesting plot point down the line (hopefully, there will be more problem with that in the future, as oppose to just let Young find out about Telford's friendship with his (ex-?)wife.
I just love shows about wormholes!

Seeing reactions to the sex scenes on this show makes me wonder again if scifi fans get so little sex that they think it strange when characters on a TV show get some.

On another note, I don't think anyone has mentioned Camille's trip home to inform her parents of their daughter's situation. It was very brief, and Camille told the driver of the car, "Told you that wouldn't take long." I got the vibe that Camille's parents aren't very close with her, maybe because of the lesbian thing. Anyone else agree, or am I reading too much into the scene?

ETA: Does anyone know if we have the name of the porn-stache guy that Park was relieving stress with at the beginning at the episode? She also relieved stress with Greer, but that was at the end of the episode.

That may be the case. I suppose its mildly interesting though terribly cliche. The writers haven't made me care enough about the characters to care about learning more about their relationships with family and friends.

Trying being the operative word. It's painfully obvious that SGU is trying to emulate the great dramas out there (in that list I would not include BSG) and is failing. But - I'm probably just the wrong demographic. They want younger, more easily parted from their money kids to watch the show.

I would hardly showing more of Scott and Wray's backstory uselss. Uninteresting is totally up to a person's opinion but developing character is rarely useless

Yep. Completely up to individual opinion. You and I rarely, if ever agree

I do hope that they'll somehow get discontinued though, but I have much less problems with their portrayal now in comparison to before, in the first five episodes.
Well, I don't have an issue with the stones, per se. Just the overuse of them so we can have drama on earth. It's mainly all the drama I have a problem with. Some is okay, but the show is starting to OD on it. For instance, the stones in "Earth" were okay.

But it's really starting to hold things back. I was hoping the communication device would burn out, or get broken, or run out of juice or something. Some communication is fine, to let Earth know they are alright and where they are.

And they STILL haven't brought Carter or McKay into this. It's a huge flaring plot hole that they don't bring the smartest, most reliable minds into helping crack the code or understand the ship. Of course, now I could possible see Young not trusting scientists from Earth, but I damn well expect Earth to offer them up. A chance to examine a different type of ancient starship that could offer up numerous clues with little risk? Carter and McKay should be jumping at the chance.

Actually when the true reasons for Rush's lying = him wanting to boost moral, will come to the ears of people, many may have a lot of respect for him, and the fall-out may be for Young, not Rush. Certainly for people in leadership position.
Sorry, I'm not counting on this group of people being that smart and wise. They are just gonna see that he lied, if and when it gets out. These people don't think too far ahead. As I said, "Ship of Fools."

In Earth for the first time, the stones had some repercussions, so that was good.

While they might be overusing the stones right now, I'm hoping that this is because we are nearing the breakpoint for the stones, where afterwards the stone-usage will be discontinued.

Well, all those solutions would be rather forced. This way I find it to be a better end for the stones. A breakpoint and the choosing not to use them or conflict about them I find more intriguing than just running out of juice which would be kind of stupid/unbelievable. Plus, they probably could recharge it via the "recharge-plate" Riley discovered.

Well, it doesn't have to be Carter or McKay. And people on Earth are working on it. We saw that in Earth and that did not turn out good. So now they are refusing help. OR at least they are refusing to share much info, so I imagine that would be a problem. So I feel that's actually been resolved a bit. Also, J.M. said on his blog that Carter and McKay are tied to other activities.

While I partially agree with the overuse of the stones, I think it might be important to point this out. According to Joseph Mallozzi's blog:

                                1) I still didn’t understand why neither Carter nor Mckay have been brought on yet to deal with the situation.

Answer: 1) Given the timeline of events for the movies, both would have been initially too busy dealing with equal/greater concerns.
So, we have an answer. Though I hope this is mentioned in-context of SGU as well.
