I am exited about Universe, but I feel they betrayed the crew and the fans of Atlantis. They should have made a Universe season 1 / Atlantis season 6 next year. But now they risked the whole franchise and it seems it will be a Russian roulette."I was hoping for another day. Looks like we just got a whole lot more than that. Let's not waste it."
"Never underestimate your audience. They're generally sensitive, intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment."
"Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction, its essence, has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all."

Agreed this would have been the smarter course of action to be taken, seeing as how it worked well with the introduction of SGA ( SG-1 was still on). Hindsight is alwasy 20/20 though.

Yes and that probaly is there reasoning for scraping SGA all together before stating SGU. Hopefully though the show will still do well.

Proposed new title for SGU:
Stargate Destiny
1. it is obviously dealing with the gateship
2. it can open the door for a series-long theme: Earth, and the 2nd evloution of humanity in the Milky Way reaching and fulfilling our ultimate destiny - reaching and/or surpassing the Alterans...Colonel Jack O'Neill: So what's your impression of Alar?
Teal'c: That he is concealing something.
Colonel Jack O'Neill: Like what?
Teal'c: I am unsure. He is concealing it.

Why in the world would anyone who enjoyed SG-1 and Atlantis be upset about another incarnation of Stargate ? If they ( the writers ) can come up with interesting plots and well written scripts and they hire halfway decent actors and directors I can't see why there would be an objection. Now if they jumped the shark ala Enterprise then sure we'll have to bail but why try and stop things before they have even begun?

2. the cliche "nothing can compare to the original"
3. the general feeling everyone is getting that SGU will not be that recognizeable as a Stargate show... its more like Star Trek VoyagerColonel Jack O'Neill: So what's your impression of Alar?

STV: They're stuck on a ship, and can't get home.
