Really, it might be that it's Dutch culture to do normal about sex scenes and that it's disgusting everywhere else in the world, but for some reason I still think it's weird that it's perfectly normal to show blood and violence and beheading on television, but not okay to show a pair of tits.
Oh, and please, could someone explain to me why it's wrong to show some nude in a couple of scenes? I don't have any problem with it whatsoever as long as it's done tastefully and not nude for the nude (although I won't have a problem with that in TJ's case ). Imo, it's much less realistic to not show it - for instance, in Light, Scott and Chloe thought they were going to die in a few hours, so why would they stop at mere kissing?Mia: Don't you hate that?
Vincent: Hate what?
Mia: Uncomfortable silences. Why do we feel it's necessary to yak about bullsh*t in order to be comfortable?
Vincent: I don't know. That's a good question.
Mia: That's when you know you've found somebody really special: you can just shut the f*** up for a minute and comfortably share silence.

What's missing from SGU for me is Maturity and Honor. I'm not going to nitpick every little scene and compare SG-1/SGA and SGU. Everyone else does enough of that.
But overall, so far for me, that's what its missing. I wouldn't bat an eyelash if Destiny exploded and took everyone with it. I just don't care about the characters enough.
But that's me
I hope the back half of the season changes my mind.sigpicThanks to Oma-1 for the beautiful banner!

And some parents overreact, by transforming that awkwardness into moral outrage. Now, true enough, there are parents with young kids who could be genuinely upset, but they're to blame, for not taking notice of the rating. But, IMO, when it comes to kids over 11, it's simple awkwardness. That and born-again Christians.

Even when it comes to teens that should normally be well-informed on the issue, watching a sex scene with your kids/parents is just damn awkward. Violence isn't. It's human nature, I suppose.

I know I'm gonna get flack for this, but I'm gonna use a reality show for an example. Survivor Heroes vs. Villains. The Heroes have shown far more villainous traits than the damn villains. And that's the thing about humanity. Shades of gray and complexity. Now, I'm not saying that the SGU characters are THAT complex, but in 10 episodes, they've shown far more potential than previous characters. Maybe honorable heroes that can do no wrong are your thing and, I'll admit, they do okay for dishing out fun adventures, but the third time around, I'm glad they didn't go that route again.

Originally posted by reddevil18 View PostAnd I agree, personally and I'm speaking more in general terms, not just SGU, though I think that, at 13, the brrom closet scene could be pretty awkward with your mom next to you.
... if you were offended by that broom closet scene in Air I, I guarantee you’ll be clawing your eyes out of your skull given what we have in store later this season.
Personally, I can't wait. Should be interesting.
