Hmmm.. There is no new post after the TV premier. Has everybody bought the DVD earlier?"I was hoping for another day. Looks like we just got a whole lot more than that. Let's not waste it."
"Never underestimate your audience. They're generally sensitive, intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment."

1) I have it on DVD twice on Region 1 and 2 forms. I couldn't wait for the UK release so I got it early...which I now regret. But hindsight is 50/50 and that leads me nicely to reason 2...
2) The movie wasn't all that good IMHO. Had I known that, I really wouldn't have been impatient and got the R1 DVD edition imported to the UK and just waited for the R2 edition. But I suppose that I really should have known that because it continues and concludes the Ori storyline (which I didn't like) of Seasons 9 and 10 (both of which I also didn't like). I don't know *what* the hell I was thinking! Maybe I was just impatient and wanted to see Amanda Tapping again.

I don't really understand why this movie gets so much criticism. I loved it. Of course for those people who passionately despised season 9 and 10, I supposed I can understand why they didn't like it (as much as I ever understand the intense hatred lobbed at S9 and S10 ).
But really, it was probably better than almost any other two-part episode (except maybe the Quest, and Within the Serpent's Grasp/In the Serpent's Lair).
I'm not terribly fond of the Replicator storyline, but it was a good way to increase the sense of danger. And I genuinely like seeing Sam and Cam work together. The main plotline with the Ark was handled quite well, I thought. There are little moments of character development (Teal'c's wonderful scene with Tomin, Daniel's scene with Morgan, Vala and Adria's confrontation), and everyone plays a significant role. I love the final showdown with Adria and the way that Daniel, Teal'c, and Vala manage to communicate their plan with just a few glances. It's a nice teamwork moment. I'm also always impressed with Julian Sands and his brief role as the Doci. I go from despising him to actually feeling sorry for him, and it always leaves me considering the implications for the priors who have just lost everything they believed in. It's a powerful moment for me, and one that I find very thought-provoking.
I would have liked to see some things expanded (Daniel's visions, SG-1's search for the Ark, etc.), but the only way it could have been expanded to suit my tastes would be if they had made it into season 11. Which obviously was writers' original plan, so I can't fault them for changes that were beyond their control.Last edited by Khentkawes; 28 March 2009, 11:20 PM.Chief of the GGP (Gateworld Grammar Police). Great happy armies shall be gathered and trained to oppose all who embrace doubt. In the name of Hope, ships shall be built to carry our disciples out amongst the stars, and we will spread Optimism to all the doubters. The power of the Optimi will be felt far and wide, and the pessimists shall become positive-thinkers.
Hallowed are the Optimi.
