I belive it is guaranteed when the actor is also part of the production company and this was the case of RDA - Gekko is his and Michael Greenburg's company. So it's not only just the name recognition.

The flaw in YOUR argument is that RDA and Michael Greenburg were NOT part of the production staff for the first season of SG1.

What do you mean he isn't a big draw Internationally? When he went to England and Ireland they all knew him and he was interviewed more then once. When he use to do his chats over the internet must of the callers were from Europe. It's the US which has forgotten RDA not the people across the puddle.

He's right, most people in the UK at least wouldn't even no who he was, he's not really famous over here at all. And if anyone does recognize him over here, it would probably be for Stargate and not McGyver anyway.

Actually, McGyver has been showing on FX in the UK so people may recognise him from that.
