Since people like the Aschen idea...

    Spoiler:
An old enemy returns, seeking its retribution. But the price of victory may be greater than SG-1 ever imagined...

Following the events of "Unending", the SG-1 team his finally split up. Daniel Jackson has taken up a professorship at Harvard University in Boston, teaching mostly about "theoretical alien cultures" and their "possible similarities" to Earth societies. Samantha Carter is now working as scientific advisor to President Hayes, and is heading up development of the planned X-305 class of Earth vessels. Cameron Mitchell and Jack O'Neill are doing what they always have; the former is leading the new SG-1, consisting of himself and three Air Force officers, and the latter is continuing in his duties as Secretary of Homeworld Defense.

Offworld, Vala Mal Doran and Teal'c have also moved on. Following the collapse of the Lucian Alliance's leadership, Vala manuevered her way into its ranks, and has found herself leading the ragtag band of mercenaries. And Teal'c is supervising the reconstruction of Jaffa worlds following the Ori incursion. All seems well, all around the galaxy.

One day, as Lt. Col. Mitchell leads his team on a recon mission on P43-771, they come across a surprise; an advanced city lies ahead of them, flying the banners of a race that Mitchell remembers, but can't seem to place. Regardless, he orders SG-1 into the city to open diplomatic relations with these people.

They claim to be a recently-established colony of an organization they call "the Confederation". Apparently, their homeworld was converted to farmland for their people's burgening population, so they decided to relocate here. Mitchell introduces himself and his team, but as soon as he mentions Earth, the city's citizens become visibly agitated. He's asked to leave, and, not wanting a confrontation, does so.

Back on Earth, Daniel's latest lecture is interrupted by an urgent call from Col. Carter. She's just unearthed an old SGC file dealing with a prototype Asgard technology, and wants to fax it to him for translation. Daniel agrees, and heads off to the nearest fax room.

As he waits for the fax to finish, he finds himself suddenly beamed away to the SGC, where an equally shocked-looking Carter is waiting with O'Neill and Landry. The latter explains that a small fleet of unknown starships has emerged from hyperspace near Neptune, and all those the Office of Planetary Defense deems "needed" are being beamed (by the Odyssey) to the SGC.

O'Neill informs Daniel that Mitchell recently returned from a world that turned very hostile upon mention of Earth. Going through both pictures Mitchell's team took and file photos, he's made a rather frightening discovery; the colony world was one of the Aschen, and they no doubt obtained Earth's stargate address when Mitchell's team returned home. That means the incoming fleet is, most likely, an Aschen one.

Around this time, there's an offworld activation, and Vala comes running through. Behind her come dozens of energy blasts, but the iris is closed in time to prevent a foothold scenario. The gathered former members of SG-1 (sans Mitchell, who O'Neill explains is back offworld), go to meet her in the gate room, and hse has very disturbing news indeed.

She was touring a Lucian Alliance shipyard in a solar system adjacent to one whose coordinates SG-1 gave to the Aschen several years before ("2001"). Apparently, they extrapolated hyperspace data from the stargate addresses they were given, and began exploring the area. When they located the Alliance facility, they attacked and destroyed eight ha'tak that were in construction. Vala herself barely had time to ring down to the planet below and escape before the Aschen vessels opened fire on it.

(NOTE: Vala didn't know the ships were Aschen; Daniel and Carter extrapolate what must have happened from her summary of events.)

With reports of Aschen attacks pouring in from worlds across the galaxy, O'Neill orders all Earth ships to be recalled immediately. Atlantis will have to reply on its ZPM for now; the Aschen have obviously been building up their fleet and technology since their last encounter with Earth, as Teal'c soon reports via subspace that the Jaffa fleet just lost a major skirmish with them near Dar Eshkalon.

Splitting up, the former SG-1 team tackles several problems head-on: Daniel and O'Neill beam aboard the Odyysey to meet the incoming fleet in the asteroid belt. Carter takes Dr. Lee and Dr. Lam and head to her old lab to work on ways to counteract Aschen energy and bioweaponry. Vala gates to one of the Lucian Alliance's strongholds to try and hold off the Aschen offenseive.

A few hours later, Carter and her team are making little headway. They have very little experience with Aschen technology in this timeline (versus the one of "2010"), and therefore are having difficulties finding good ways to defend against it. But they trudge on, hoping that the Odyssey's Asgard upgrades will be able to handle whatever's thrown at it.

Speaking of the Odyssey, it's just now coming out of hyperspace in the middle of the asteroid belt. The journey took significantly longer, Daniel explains, due to the tricky navigation of such areas and avoiding large mass shadows. But they're there, and the Aschen ships arrive soon after. O'Neill asks why they keep making small hyperspace jumps versus large ones, and Daniel guesses they're checking each major area of the solar system for bases/outposts/etc., not knowing Earth has none.

As the enemy vessels draw closer, Col. Ronson (commanding the Odyssey), notices something; their shields are dropping like a stone. O'Neill brings up a power reading, and the cause is quickly found... their ZPM, after so many months of continued use, just failed. But it's too late to retreat now, as the Aschen fleet comes within firing range and hails the Earth ship.

SG-1's old adversaries smugly lay the blame for this sudden galactic offensive on Earth, saying that they would've been content to lord over their portion of the universe had they not been so cheated six/seven years before. They also claim that they will cease hostilities if the Tau'ri agree to hand over their interstellar empire... including Earth itself. O'Neill, of course, flatly refuses. The Aschen, now angry, cut off their transmission and power weapons.

Ronson explains that their shields have dropped in efficiency by about 60%, and that the Asgard energy weapons are barely getting enough power to fire (he says they're a bit of a power hog, hence the fact that the Odyssey was always carrying a ZPM). But O'Neill and Daniel know they cannot fall back, and engage the enemy regardless.

The battle is relatively short. The Aschen ships, while inferior, are able to gather together to produce a much more powerful defensive shield, which is able to withstand a fair amount of punishment. Eventually, the Odyssey's shields go, but it's able to knock out 2 of the Aschen's 11 ships at the same time.

Shieldless, the Odyssey avoid taking direct damage for several more seconds, but a single blast finally hits, knocking its Asgard weapons offline. Knowing they can't continue to fight off the remaining 9 Aschen vessels with railguns and missiles alone, Ronson orders a retreat jump to the moon.

Back on Earth, Carter is tracking the enemy's movements around the galaxy via a Tok'ra subspace sensor system. The fleet that attacked the Odyssey appears to be holding position in the asteroid belt, effecting repairs, but other star systems aren't so lucky. A massive battle is raging over Hebridan, and several Jaffa worlds have suddenly stopped reporting in to Chulak. Things don't look very good at all.

Just then, Carter has a revelation; when they last encountered the Aschen, they were able to determine the location of their homeworld. Just as word of Daniel and O'Neill's arrival at the moon comes in, she bursts into General Landry's office. She has a daring plan that may just save Earth... and the rest of the galaxy.

The enemy fleet hanging in the asteroid belt arrives now, as well, and engage the Odyssey and the newly-arrived Daedalus. While they duke it out in space, Aschen fighters dive toward Earth and meet resisitance in the form of American and Russian F-302s over Mongolia.

Offworld, things have gotten bad. Teal'c and Vala stand in a lookout tower on Chulak, watching as a joint force of Free Jaffa and Lucian Alliance forces attempt to hold off an assault of Aschen. But the bad guys have far superior mechanized infantry, and they posess short-range bioweapons that are wreaking havoc on the battlefield. Even Colonel Mitchell and his team are here, valiantly trying to slow the Aschen advance...

At the stargate (where Mitchell's team is), an incoming wormhole gives a small pause to the battle. The SG team expects enemy reinforcements, and is shocked when, instead, a MALP comes through and begins boradcasting a message; Stargate Command has dialed the Aschen homeworld and is prepared to send as many naquadriah-enchanced nukes as it takes to stop this offensive. After a moment of silence, the Aschen forces slowly, then more quickly, fall back to their transports.

    At the SGC, Jaffa/Tok'ra reports confirm that across the galaxy, the Aschen are retreating. The fleet that attacked Earth recalled its surviving fighters and retreated, and the Hebridanians report a victory. In all, this conflict lasted three days, and resulted in nearly ten-million deaths galaxy-wide. But while the former SG-1 team celebrates, Daniel hears a disturbing newscast in the background;

The Chinese military has taken complete control of Mongolia, and is shooting down anyone who dares enter. After she calculates the trajectory of Aschen fighters knocked from the air, Carter delivers the chilling news: the Chinese have reclaimed over a dozen enemy craft... and a captive.

    -- * --

So while this has a happy ending (sort of), it sets up a possible sequel for the Aschen storyline (once they neutralize the threat of Earth's nukes), and also gives a possible Earth-based sequel involving a suddenly-advanced China. What do you think?

                    Spoiler:
An Old Gate Will Re-open... A Lost People Shall Rise Again...

The Odyssey is patrolling a sector along the edge of the Jaffa Nation along with a few ha'tak escorts, on routine examination of post-Ori planets.

Suddenly, planetary fire from the nearest world obliterates the Jaffa motherships, and the Odyssey takes severe damage. Not willing to take on these clearly advanced people, Col. Ronson (It's new commander) orders the ship back to Earth.

At the SGC, Col. Carter and the team go over the data Ronson brought back. The weapon that was used to destroy the ha'tak was ion-based, suggesting a very advanced race indeed. Insofar, SG-1 has only encountered one group of people that could construct viable ion weaponry, the Tollan, but they were destroyed by the Goa'uld years before. Still, Carter (now commanding SG-1) thinks it's worth checking out, so she, Teal'c, Daniel, and Vala depart on the Odyssey for the alien planet.

Meanwhile, Col. Mitchell's been transferred to the Pentagon, where he and Jack are overseeing the production of Asgard-enhanced F-302s. Mitchell volunteers to test-fly one, and O'Neill agrees.

Hours later, the Odyssey arrives back in the star system it was patrolling before. The wreckage from the Jaffa ships remain, and Bra'tac says the Nation is already preparing a task force to deal with this renegade world if need be.

                    Again, the planet fires on the Odyssey, but the Earth ship is ready for it. With Earth's ZPM once more tied into its systems, the shields easily withstand the barrage. When it finally ends, Carter opens a wide-frequency channel and declares the following;

"This is Col. Samantha Carter, onboard the Earth cruiser Odyssey. We mean you no harm, and wish to open peaceful relations with you... Please, trust us."

                    Then, she recieves the following;

"How could we not trust you, Col. Carter? After all... your people once tried everything they could to save ours..."

We recognize this voice instantly. Carter's eyes widen, and Daniel and Teal'c stare in dumbfound disbelief as a video link is established and the face of Narim (a member of the Tollan) looks up at them, appearing just as shocked. Of course, Carter instantly (after recovering her composure) demands to know how he's alive, but he merely shakes his head and asks them to wait a moment, and to not send out any subspace messages. Still stunned, SG-1 complies.

While they wait for the Tollan to make contact again, Daniel, Carter, and Teal'c bring Vala up to speed on who the Tollan are, what they did, and how they came to be "destroyed". No one's exactly sure how they managed to survive Abubis' attack on their homeworld, but they're all expecting an interesting explaination.

Finally, Narim makes contact. He asks for SG-1 to come to the surface, saying that he'll send up a transport for them. But Carter smiles and explains that Earth's come a long way since when they last met, and asks where he'd like to meet. Once he's told them, the team beams down to meet him, stunning the Tollan nearby.

They find themselves in the middle of a thriving city, but one very different from Tollana. This city stretches on for several miles around, with dozens of ion canons, and a giant energy shield above it. Narim explains that his people are taking no chances with this settlement, ensuring that the Goa'uld will never attack them again. Apparently, they've also abandoned the use of stargates, and therefore have no idea what's going on in the rest of the galaxyl they still think the Goa'uld are a power.

As Daniel and Teal'c explain the situation, and Vala heads back to the Odyssey to inform Col. Ronson what's happened, Carter and Narim strole through New Tollana. Narim tells her that he longed to contact Earth, to tell her that he was alive, but the Curia (of which he is now a part) forbid it, saying it was too risky that the Goa'uld would intercept the message. So the Tollan decided to cut themselves off from the galaxy at large, and rebuild.

He also explains that several transport ships did manage to escape Tollana, and one of them beamed him aboard at the last moment. They, along with ships from a small Tollan colony world, reestablished themselves here. And in return for this info, Sam explains the downfall of the Goa'uld, the Replicator invasion, and the war with the Ori. She also tells him about the Asgard's demise, Earth's advances, and the Atlantis Expedition. Needless to say, Narim is stunned that Earth has come so far. (During this time, Carter is informed that the Odyssey is retreating out of the system to get within range of the SGC, to report in.)

As they return to the city center, an alarm is sounded; sixteen ha'tak have arrived in orbit, and are firing on the city. The shield is holding, but no one knows how long it will last. As the Tollan Curia gives orders to fire on the ships, SG-1 intervenes, shouting that the ships are Jaffa, not Goa'uld. They're simply retaliating for the accidental destruction of the ha'tak destroyed earlier (the Tollan destroyed them thinking they were System Lord vessels).

But the Jaffa won't open communications, and the Tollan memory of ha'tak is not a good one. The Curia decide to fire regardless of SG-1's warning, determined not to be bested twice by the same foe; with the exception of Narim, the Tollan refuse to accept that the Jaffa are any different than the Goa'uld. The following battle is brief, with the upgraded Tollan ion canons ripping many of the Jaffa ships to shreds with ease.

SG-1 is distressed; they're old ally, finally found once more (and having lost its old arrogance), and their new ally, seem to be headed toward war. They rush to prevent the catastrophic showdown between the two powers, and at the same time, trying to prevent the Tollan from vanishing once more...

(Ultimately, they'll avert a full-scale war, and the Tollan and Jaffa leaders will meet on Chulak (now a full capitol world) to discuss the events of the past few days. The movie would end with Narim and the team at the SGC, becoming full-fledged allies. Then, Sam and Narim part ways at the gate; he still longing to be with her, and she simply glad he's alive.)
Great idea. It just needs more action in it.
Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth or easy...

... or that any man can measure the tides and hurricanes he will
                    encounter on the strange journey.

                    Spoiler:

                    2 Cor. 10:3-5
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; )

I found the whole idea that Asgard would commit mass suicide and give all there technology to earth the stupidest idea. It makes no sense. However, you could do a story in which they find a planet full of tokra and the queen Ageria, The queen tells them that she is a clone and that they cloned her 5000 years previously using Asgard cloning technology. They go back in time to complete the time paradox. Once there they find an Asgard who look far more human that has traveled forward in time. Combined they find a solution to the Asgard replicative fading (sorry STNG terminology) problem, they travel to the future to a few months before the apparent destruction of the Asgard and give them the cure and telling them what they did. So the asgard fake there own death and are back making the whole lets commit mass suicide make sense.

                        At the SGC, Jaffa/Tok'ra reports confirm that across the galaxy, the Aschen are retreating. The fleet that attacked Earth recalled its surviving fighters and retreated, and the Hebridanians report a victory. In all, this conflict lasted three days, and resulted in nearly ten-million deaths galaxy-wide. But while the former SG-1 team celebrates, Daniel hears a disturbing newscast in the background;

What do you think?
amazing, as usual. You should be one of the SG-1/SGA/SGU scenarists. Your stories always make sense

I would like to see the Furlings like many of us do,the downfall of the lucian alliance, the comeback of anubis.

We all know that the asgard blew themselves up in unending, right?
We all know we fooled the wraith one time with a huge explosion, right?
I kinda like the idea of the asgard having done something simular in order to fool the ori and secretly got themselves out of fase,so that they could rebuild there society in peace, without everyone knowing about it.

The asgard seem a little bit more honorable about their business than that, though.

I hope they did that as well, but it's not quite their MO.

Okay, here's my latest idea. A sequel to my previous Aschen story:

                              Spoiler:
(One week after the last movie)

Following the galaxy-wide conflict with the Aschen, Earth is in turmoil. With China in control of a dozen alien fighters, and the secret of the Stargate Program teetering on the edge of revelation, SG-1 is forced to reuinite.

In New York (in the United Nations), Daniel leads a political offensive against China, trying to force them out of Mongolia without revealing the stargate. But he faces stiff competition in the form of the Chinese IOA representative, who seems determined to throw up all the blocks against him. Even for an experienced diplomat like himself, Daniel doubts he can force China's hand through legal means.

Meanwhile, at the SGC, Carter is spearheading plans to attack the Chinese forces in Mongolia should they prepare to head back to their homeland with the Aschen fighters in tow. She and O'Neill believe that America's fleet of 302s and puddle jumpers should be able to strike quickly and efficiently should the need arise, and retreat before the enemy can strike back.

But even as the political tensions on Earth begin to come to a boil, another threat emerges from afar; the Aschen Confederation, now secure that the same tactic will not best them twice, have gone on the offensive once more. But they're attacking "smarter" this time, ambushing Jaffa shipping in deep space and attacking the Alpha and Gama Sites. Within hours, all of Earth's offworld bases have been either destroyed or heavily damaged, and the Jaffa report that they are quickly losing control of space around Dakara and Chulak.

O'Neill dispatches Mitchell onboard the Odyssey to give the Jaffa a hand, but he knows that they're in a very difficult position; should the Aschen attack, the United States would be unable to launch any sort of attack, even into orbit, as the Chinese would surely use it as an excuse to launch their own assault. Seeing no other real option, he and Carter get back to work on their plans.

On Chulak, Teal'c and the Jaffa army is quickly being overrun. The Aschen learned the most critical locations in the galaxy from their last run of attacks, and headed straight for the most important Jaffa worlds. But as the battle in orbit is starting to turn in the enemy's favor, the Odyssey arrives, evening the odds. Mitchell rings down to the surface with a squad of marines, who help their allies try to hold off the flow of Aschen troops coming from the stargate.

On the other side of the galaxy, Bra'tac is commanding a Jaffa fleet of newly-constructed ha'tak, with shields and weapons on par with those of Anubis'. His fleet engages a similarly-sized one of Aschen forces over Volian, in an attempt to bring the fight to the enemy. But the battle quickly devolves into a stalemate; neither side can overwhelm the other, and Bra'tac knows that the Aschen outnumber the Jaffa Nation nearly 2-to-1.

Meanwhile, on Earth, things have reached a critical stage. The Chinese have primed all their nuclear missile launchers, and dispersed their fleet to guard against any sort of conventional attack. At the same time, they begin to move their men out of Mongolia. In the UN, this is percieved as an American victory, but Daniel knows better. All this means is that the Chinese have reclaimed all they needed to from the Aschen crash site, and are heading back to China to study it further. Knowing there's little more he can do from New York, he heads outside, where a cloaked jumper is waiting to take him to the SGC.

And at the SGC, Carter has finalized her plans just in time. O'Neill and the President have organized a task force of fifty F-302s and ten puddle jumpers to attack the Chinese convoy just before it reaches China. The Mongolian Prime Minister has already authorized American military action on his soil, so there shouldn't be any sort of trouble there. With the clock ticking, and Daniel freshly arrived, all available personnel suit up and board their fighters for the attack.

Before they leave for Mongolia, Carter and O'Neill share a moment in private; the former has begun to question whether they really have the authority to prevent the Chinese from taking the Aschen fighters, but the later affirms that they cannot let such advanced technology fall into the hands of a nation that has proved itself so untrustworthy. Acknowledging, but not really reassured, Carter relents, and the two jump on the last jumper as it lifts off.

Bra'tac, in the meantime, has found himself in a precarious situation. The Aschen fleet he was engaging has recieved reinforcements, whereas he has none. Apparently, Teal'c tried to send a battle group from Chulak, but it was ambushed and destroyed before it could reach Volian. Steeling himself, Bra'tac orders his men to fight to the last.

On Earth, the American strike force has just passed over the Chinese blockade, and will reach their intended target in just under five minutes. They hoped that, going as fast as they are, the Chinese wouldn't be able to detect their approach, but that belief is quickly squashed as Chinese interceptors speed for the convoy. It looks like it'll be a race to the finish, and the enemy fighters are far closer.

After several tense moments, the SGC fighters find that they, against all odds, managed to arrive first, but just barely. As the jumpers prepare to fire on the convoy and destroy the Aschen technology, Chinese interceptors arc out of nowhere and fire. Half the jumpers are destroyed outright, with Carter and O'Neill's just barely escaping. To give the Ancient-equipped craft time to circle around, the F-302s engage the enemy, trying to bring the dogfighting up to more than just a few dozen feet above the ground.

Carter notices a strange blip on the jumper's HUD, and, frightened, orders the pilot to pull up, hard! He does so, just in time to avoid a missile that speeds underneath them. Unfortunately, a second jumper is not so lucky, and it is hit, erupting into a ball of fire big enough to take out a few nearby 302s.

Now, even more Chinese fighters arrive, tilting the numerical balance in their favor. But the Americans have the better-equipped F-302s, and know they can hold out for a time, but not forever. Also, even worse, the Chinese launch a barrage of nuclear missiles toward the United States, as retaliation for the attack on their convoy. President Hayes, not having any other options, launches America's own set of nukes, which speed off toward mainland China.

                              Cutting away from the battle, we find that Chulak has been successfully defended against the Aschen. Teal'c and his men give a great cheer, and their celebration grows even more as reports of Jaffa victories come in from across the galaxy. Bra'tac cheerfully reports that the sudden arrival of a Tok'ra battle group allowed his ships to triumph, and Volian has been captured. Perhaps even better, Jaffa vessels chased the Aschen to their homeworld, which has been blockaded and rendered defenseless;

                              The Aschen War has ended.

But on Earth, things are still grim. As the two sets of nuclear missiles speed toward one another, though, O'Neill takes over the piloting of his jumper. Dodging enemy missiles and fighters, he scores a direct hit on the convoy, triggering a chain reaction. The Aschen technology is destroyed.

But the WMDs have nearly reached their targets, and all atempts to intercept them have failed on both sides. It looks like all is lost...

Then everything changes. Every nuclear missile in the air is beamed into space, where railgun fire from the just-arrived Odyssey quickly destroys them all. For the moment, at least, peace has returned. The Chinese-American conflict over Mongolia ends in a stalemate, with both sides returning to their bases.

                              ONE MONTH LATER

Carter, O'Neill, Teal'c, Bra'tac, and Daniel are meeting with the Aschen representative Mollem on Dakara. The Confederation has offered its unconditional surrender, which Earth has accepted. The Jaffa Nation wished to obliterate the enemy homeworld, as retribution, but President Hayes apparently managed to talk them out of it.

On Earth, Mitchell and the President are also having a meeting; with the leaders of China in Washington. The two sides have agreed to share all technology procured through the gate, and the United States will be giving a fleet of 302s to China for defense. Tensions still run high, but only with those that know what transpired; the public has been convinced that all nuclear missiles launched were detonated by their respective countries in order to avoid all-out war.

As the Chinese representatives depart, Mitchell asks Hayes how long they can keep this sort of thing up before the entire planet gets blown to smitherines. The President merely shakes his head, and turns back to his desk. Off this rather somber moment, Mitchell takes his leave, back to the SGC... back to the secret.

Personally, I think this wasn't as good as the other ones... But hey, that's life.
