Well, they're only visible for a second or two, after which they don't return the camera to a position where they would be visible again. So, they at least caught it on time...

Ah... What a nice experience it is to rewatch it without first 20 mins of ep stuttering like a stuck record... And I've caught something this time that was avoiding my eye for a while. They're on 2 Apophis ships. According to Teal'C in previous ep, these are the new version of Ha'Tak, as he never been aboard such class warship. So the question arises - why all of a sudden both Apophis' and Klorel's ships are ridden with Ra's statues? Did he steal them from Ra or what? Or he just built them in secret to try jumping him as the legends go, and then when caught tried to tell Ra with big poker face that the ships are gift for the Supreme Lord Ra?

Oh, and something hilarious I've noted yet again comparing English vs Russian translation:

The line in the very beginning, where Jack yells to Jaffa "Just a minute!!" was replaced in Russian voice over on "The toilet's occupied!!"

Maybe because the Apophis mythology and the Ra one are joined (by Daniel early ep 'Ra is the sun God who ruled the day, Apophis is the serpent god who ruled the night' I can't remember the exact quote) - perhaps Apophis inherited them or took them as a trophy... or maybe when Ra was defeated they went to his home planet and had a garage sale

Facebook post about Alexis Cruz and the Audiobook he's done. If you're a fan of Alexis and his work - you'll love it. Book 1 and 2 are there now. The second one is brilliant, but I can't vouch for the first one (not having heard it), but I'm sure it's just as good, if not better.

          Season 2, disk 1.

You can pretty much assume because I'm posting in this thread that I like this episode. That said, these are a few of the things I noted about it.

Tak-m'tey sounds much more like a title than a greeting (that's true of all of its uses to this point, actually). So who decided it should be a greeting rather than a title? The writers? Chris? The producers? Whoever it was, good choice, IMO.

Jack asks Carter how many grenades are left, but then when he destroys the ship's shields, he's the one with the grenades. Sure, she could've given them to him, but I'd think they'd both carry some--in which case, how would she know how many were left? On the other hand, if he meant how many did she have left, the question makes a tiny bit of sense.

We have, of course, the more miraculous than usual sarcophagus that can heal radios and clothing as well as people.

If you look closely when Bray'tac is escorted from the gate room, you can see Michael Shanks. Good detail.

My favorite scenes are General Hammond scenes. First, when he's talking to the first Alpha group as the gate dials up. Second, after Colonel Samuel's warheads fail. Hammond says nothing actually derogatory, but you can tell what his opinion of the Colonel is. Beautifully done both by the scriptwriter and by Don S. Davis.

That, and relief, because it was Jack that left him behind (even though Daniel did tell him to go).

Great episode, one of my favorites.

Great episode. I give this and last season's episode both 4.5's. Favorite moment is when Bratac says, "You are Hammond of Texas?" then waves his hand over his head. Now begins my season 2 rewatch. Took me a year to finish season one but hopefully, it will go faster this time.

Part of my first re-watch. I'm impressed with this episode. Although I'd forgotten most of the details, obviously I knew it had a happy ending. Even so, there were plenty of times that I felt genuinely anxious about the characters' wellbeing, especially Daniel. I think I might have shrieked as he jumped into the stargate right as the ships blew, and - for some reason - I wasn't expecting him to get shot before they'd made it to Ra's ship.

I hope the season two finale is as good as this one. I remember none of it.

This ep was one of the few times you DID think daniel was not going to make it.

                    2. Apophis and Skaara ring from the peltac. Time remaining uknown.
                    3. Daniel approaches the gateroom, running, with 27 seconds on the timer

Assume that Apophis and Skaara made their escape mere seconds before before Daniel reached the stargate, avoiding any path crossing.
In the first episode COTG there was a small ship that used rings? Are we assuming that, in this ep, Klorel and Apophis went through the Stargate and not in a ship?

The season 2 cliffhanger was quite good. Without saying much else, 3 members of the team awake from being in stasis for many years and are told the battle with the goa'uld is still ongoing. Each member of the team (when they are awakened) are told that the other members of their team did not survive. And it goes on from there. Ring any bells?

I have to disagree. Their is a time and place for clip shows. Season finales aren't one of them

Heh, you're talking to my old account. Or new-old account. Eh.

So, having re-watched it already a few months ago, I'd say that description does ring a few bells. Actually, while watching it, I at least remembered the trickery aspect, even if I couldn't remember the details.

I'm just glad I'm able to watch the whole series on DVD, so that regardless of whether or not the cliffhanger is good, I can breeze right into the next season. I'm also not a fan of the clip shows, be them as part of the finale or leading up to it.

Re: Getting the teams from the gliders to the shuttle

                            The motherships had shields.
The ships in "The Serpent's Lair" were technologically superior by far to anything previously seen (at least by Teal'c).

Could it be that the death gliders were outfitted with shields similar to that used by the mothership, and that field could be expanded to include the airlock of the Shuttle? That way, the death glider and the shuttle could get into close proximity, the crew of the shuttle (in spacewalk gear) opens the airlock, and the death glider team merely pops the canopy of the death glider and then propels themselves into the shuttle by pushing off the fuselage of the death glider. Presumably, the shield radius would protect the crew from the cold/airlessness/pressure of space long enough for them to get into the shuttle.

The crew would then outfit them with space walk gear and prepare to receive the next death glider team.

Once everyone's on board, they land the Shuttle.

                            Just a thought.

How do we think they got the death gliders back to earth? I don't think the shuttle is big enough to take on one of them, let alone both of them. Major Reynolds referred to them in Season 2, "Touchstone" when they are seen at Area 51 when the team goes there to investigate the other gate.
