    Spoiler:

When he snapped at her when she didn't come up with way get away right away he was rude to her he was never that way with her before usually very respectful of her. He had always been very respectful of her and knew she was a lot smarter than him that was very clear from season 9

Don't get me wrong I don't ship them I think they have a good friendship and I thought it was OOC for him to act that way in that scene
I haven't seen unending yet. When I do see it--I will look for the scene you mentioned.

yea there is that too. Unending was a bit of an anti climax realy. nothing really funny happens or anything really sad ahhpens. i mean what a waste of about 6 months of planing and preparation

and it COULD have been so different

            Spoiler:
what if cameron had cracked? what if they'd have had to kill him tosave themselves? why couldn't we get the characters talking about who they were missing/losing? why couldn't we get a view into thier regrets?

but that woulda tossed some emotion into stuff...and we can't have that pesky emtional stuff. it might muck up the fun

                  Sad, emotionally? Or Sad, pathetic?
I have a hard time getting emotionally sad about a ridiculous, unbelievable and out of character situation.
Joseph Mallozzi -"In the meantime, I'm into season 5 of OZ (where the show takes an unfortunate hairpin turn into "the not so wonderful world of fantasy")"

^^^ Kinda sounds like seasons 9 and 10 of SG-1 to me. Thor, ya got Aspirin?

AGateFan has officially Gone Fishin (with Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c) and is hoping Atlantis does not take that same hairpin turn.

they took a valid race and turned them into a plot device so that soem aspect of AoT would work

imho unending existed for the sole purpose of

                      Spoiler:
getting our team an endless supply of asgard derived deus ex machinas to make the weakly written and cliche ridden plot of AoT work

cause that seems to be how coop loves his show...cliches brought to life with no end of super fix it plot devices to make the job of writing all that much easier

my thoughts on the Asgard Solution.

                          Spoiler:
Mass suicide was OOC for the Asgard as well. They took one of the most likeable characters and turned them into a cult. In light of how many mass suicides there have been in recent history--I found the whole Asgard solution to be unethical. Mass suicide has become associated with nut jobs and brainwashing. In making the Asgard a suicidal cult--they have diminished the ethiscs of the show further. What will they do next? make the Jaffa into homicidal cannibals?

and it means that anyone watchin SG1 will think that suicide is the best thing to do.

                              IMHO,
                              Spoiler:
coop needed the endless supply of plot devices for the movies. knew that the asgard would never give them up willingly cause we had tons of canon to prove it

and possibly wanted to get rid of those expensive little puppets on the set

so they killed off the asgard...cause there is no logical explanation for them giving earth all thier goodies. none.

but he needed it to make his movie work. he wanted the 'plot device of the week' technology as a crutch for the future, so they killed off a race.

now what could have made it interesting...if sam in going back in time, went back to BEFORE the asgard all hari kari'd and they convinced them NOT to. thus hampering their own acquiring of toys, but doing what might have been the more pleasing outcome...supporting thier friends through thick and thin instead of just scavenging all that was left behing

that woudl have been an interesting dilemma. Especially if they'd managed to somehow fix the asgard issues, or find some other outcome...like maybe a way for them to dump thier consciouses into something else to escape their dying bodies

Yep, the Asgard solution was a thoughtless plot device with no real concern for the impressionable young veiwer. Just reinforces that what cults do is okay if you think the end of the world is near.
