Ouch. She'd finally worked up the nerve to go to him, and her fears were confirmed(or so she thought). Ouch. But you know, give a little, get a little. She still loved him, but she was with someone else. Soooo.... Anyway, I think there had to have been an actual conversation there somewhere. I love 'Always.', but IMHO, that wasn't enough to clear everything up.

Oh, definitely. If nothing else, she had to know he'd broken with Kerry and shed have to tell him she had or was planning on breaking up with Pete. And most importantly - exactly why. But I do think they both knew, or at least suspected and FELT, that they were together at the end of the 'Always' scene. There's no fear there once he puts her arm around her (though I think she was nervous at the beginning of the scene by the way she bites her cheek, but once he is so close and open and clearly there as a friend and not just her 'CO' she relaxess immediately). But I agree some convo was necessary to clear that mess up.

at first, i thought it was strange for sam and jack to be so physical with each other (all of a sudden), but then really getting into it and analyzing... i see jack as the linchpin.

how many times did we see sam trying to sort things out between them, only to be shot down (gently)? this time, jack made the overatures and sam, through her grieving, latched on. then she got her comfirmation, what's she's been trying to get from him since before pete even came into the picture ('grace'). all these years, i've seen sam going to jack in part self confessing and part needing to hear his.

I didn't find the physicality strange at all. They were both standing on the summit of all the hardship and denial and angst that they had trudged through for eight years...and suddenly, they found themselves on the precipice of something new...undeniable need.

Her need for him...

His need for her and to comfort her...

And both realizing that try as they might, no one else would do.

I cried. Really. I did.
