So lets see after eight years we have "I wouldn't be here", "Always", and "Not Exactly"; I don't know what us shippers are complaining about these words are just dripping with emotions we should be ashamed of ourselves (snark, snark).
Weren't we told (this my be one of my delusions) that all would be made clear if we were just patient. Now if we ask questions we are made to feel like we are royal pains.

Yes, but I think the "made clear" was referring to Threads and Sam dumping Spud the Dud
      Yepp, it's blank down here.

Poor Jack, can't get any sleep because he doesn't know what to get Sam for Christmas. Can YOU give him an idea what present, to get Sam?
How about a proposal and a ring!!

            hey y'all!!
I'm usually just a lurker here anymore and don't post much unless I have something to say.
I recieved this neat email and just had to pass it on.
Since Sam and Jack are both in the military I thought it was appropriate, that and I happen to know that the S/J shippers are a caring bunch!!

            Soldiers Christmas Poem

            Twas the night before Christmas
            He lived all alone
in a one bedroom house made of
            plaster and stone.

I had come down the chimney
            with presents to give,
            and to see just who
            in this home did live.

            I looked all about,
a strange sight I did see,
            no tinsel, no presents,
            not even a tree.

            No stocking by mantle,
            just boots filled with sand,
            on the wall hung pictures
            of far distant lands.

            With medals and badges,
            awards of all kinds,
            a sober thought
            came through my mind.

            For this house was different,
            it was dark and dreary,
I found the home of a soldier,
            once I could see clearly.

            The soldier lay sleeping,
            silent, alone,
            curled up on the floor
            in this one bedroom home.

            The face was so gentle,
            the room is such disorder,
            not how I pictured
            a United States soldier.

            Was this the hero
of whom I 'd just read?
            Curled up on a poncho,
            the floor for a bed?

            I realized the families
            that I saw this night,
owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight.

            Soon round the world,
            the children would play,
            and grown-ups would celebrate
            a bright Christmas day.

            They all enjoyed freedom
            each month of the year,
            because of the soldiers,
            like the one lying here.

            I couldn't help wonder
            how many lay alone,
            on a cold Christmas eve
in a land far from home.

            The very thought
brought a tear to my eye,
            I dropped to my knees
            and started to cry.

            The soldier awakened
and I heard a rough voice,
            "Santa don't cry,
            this life is my choice."

            "I fight for freedom,
            I don't ask for more,
            My life is my God,
            my country, my Corps."

            The soldier rolled over
            and drifted to sleep,
            I couldn't control it
            I continued to weep.

            I kept watch for hours,
            so silent and still
            and we both shivered
            from the cold night's chill.

            I didn't want to leave
            on that cold, dark night,
            this guardian of honor
            so willing to fight.

            Then the soldier rolled over,
with a voice soft and pure,
            whispered, "Carry on Santa,
It's Christmas day, all is secure."

            One look at my watch,
and I knew he was right.
            "Merry Christmas my friend
and to all a good night."

This poem was written by a Marine stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S.
            service men
and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's
            try in
this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe.
Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who
            sacrificed
            themselves for us.

            nice huh??

These are the book borrowing lists as of the evening of December 10 Eastern Standard Time. I will update as new names are added. I will PM everybody when the final lists are.....final!!!! Please feel free to start mailing books and bookmarks!!! All parties contact each other for addresses. Enjoy!!!

If you wish to sign up, please PM me and I'll add you to the list.

Please make a bookmark!! Bookmarks will be passed along with the books. There are many ways to make a bookmark. I printed a photo from a screen cap and cut it to about 6 inches by 2 inches. I pasted it to poster board the same size and laminated it. Enjoy the project!! Keep bookmarks rated G!!!

For example, I made this bookmark.
                front

                back

I sent it with the book I lent to LOL4JACK. She keeps it!! When LOL4JACK passes the book to Jafacakes, she sends her bookmark that she made to Jafacakes. Whoever is the last reader, they return the book to me with a bookmark. Makin' sense??

Oh, please sign the inside cover of the book with your user id name and the date you read the book and your city, province/state, country.

                Book 1 A Matter of Honor (Nell's)
LOL4JACK received the book with the Very Shippy bookmark last Monday, Dec 5!!!

It's possible to read a book in a couple of days if you're able to devote the time. But for working people, like me, I'll need at least a couple of weeks. So, keep in mind that we may each have the book for several weeks.

As for Sam and Orlin being "intimate", I actually assumed that the glowy thing was the ascended intimate of intimates (trying to keep it PG). I mean, it's all about feelings and two people merging as one etc, it was the nearest a PG pre-watershed show could get. Or so I thought until Spud.

Sorry guys, but I did think it was intimate. Hence why I was horrified at it.

Thanks again Lys, you are a STAR yourself!
Well, maybe and maybe not!!! LOL!! Intimate, that is. Orlin was an ascended being who sparked Sam's curiosity as a soldier and a scientist. She was not attracted to him. She is not naieve but he offered her an opportunity to experience something with him. It was consensual but not sexual. Intimate, OK, but again not sexual. Sam isn't a one-night stand girl. Remember , post the "glowy experience," when Orlin became mortal, she reminded him AGAIN that they did not have a relationship. So, in Season 9 Grrrrrrr
                            Spoiler:
TPTB wrote the scene so the innuendo was of intimacy in an alien sexual way.
                            That burned me up!!!

I guess you're probably right. But Orlin definitely construed it as sexual, and I think it's intimate, whatever. I'll have to watch the ep again.

                                and drifted to sleep,
                                I couldn't control it
                                I continued to weep.

                                I kept watch for hours,
                                so silent and still
                                and we both shivered
                                from the cold night's chill.

                                I didn't want to leave
                                on that cold, dark night,
                                this guardian of honor
                                so willing to fight.

                                Then the soldier rolled over,
with a voice soft and pure,
                                whispered, "Carry on Santa,
It's Christmas day, all is secure."

                                One look at my watch,
and I knew he was right.
                                "Merry Christmas my friend
and to all a good night."

and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's
                                try in
this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe.
Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who
                                sacrificed
                                themselves for us.

                                nice huh??
