When Sam has a flashback about Daniel, Jack immediately goes to her and takes hold of her arms and continues to hold on even past her distress until Teal’c speaks and breaks the spell between them.

When Sam becomes emotionally distraught during the hypnosis session Jack shows no hesitation or concern about those around them as he grabs her by the shoulders to try and pull her out of it. She is reluctant to touch him but he pulls her in completely and even while she is still hesitant to give in to his comfort he holds on and attempts to sooth her.

After developing so much closeness and trust in the short amount of time they have been on a team together his dismissal of her concerns is a definite step backwards. He pats her on the shoulder as if to physically brush her off as he has just done verbally, and then he walks away. This behavior finally makes Sam mad enough to start investigating Hathor and find out what’s really going on.

There’s no way to be gentle when you’re setting a broken bone. Jack knows that and tries not to make it harder for Sam than it already is, but she is pained to cause him so much additional hurt.

Sam holds Jack up, her arm around his and his arm upon his shoulder. He jokes to try and lighten the mood. She’s his rock; he’s her hope.

Cuddling together for warmth Sam demonstrates her care and Jack can’t completely hide his attraction.

When Sam returns to Jack she snuggles up to him not to offer warmth, but comfort. She is willing to be whatever he needs her to be in what she sees as their last moments and stay with him to the end.

Trapped and blind Sam strikes out when Jack touches her face and bites him in the hand. Impressed by her spunk when he decides they’ll go down fighting he suggests her razor teeth as their best weapon. (In the years to come he’ll realize that her mind is the real weapon.)
