we finally have a new dog....she's a pit bull mix about 1 year old....she's very sweet.....kinda starved for loving attention though since her previous owners were cruel to her......to the point where the SPCA had to seize her.....that cheeses me off like crazy....

the kitty isn't liking the new arrangement at the moment though.....that cat's getting cantankerous in her old age at 12 years old....

Okay, so I visited the site to try to read some of the fic and to vote. As many have noted, the link to "fanfiction" does not work. I got this reply to my inquiry:

Yes, they are. Our site is still under construction, and two of the
areas for which there's still some programming underway are the
fanfiction archive and link archive. We decided to put off having
EVERYTHING ready at launch in favor of having an awards program for
this year.

After this year's awards have concluded, we'll be back to adding new
features and functionality to the site.

Note that I do not normally post email conversations, but since many here have expressed confustion and their inability to participate, I thought I'd share...

It seems I misunderstood your question. GateFic is not exclusively an
awards site, but rather a community site which will (or currently
does) feature a fanfiction archive, an art gallery, a videos gallery,
a discussion forum, an events calendar, a user-created links archive,
and more.

The awards section is but one part of GateFic. Because we are a
community site and hope to see people dropping in continuously, our
awards program allows nominations to be submitted almost year-round.
Nominations are closed at this time, and will remain so until after
the winners for this year have been announced. Nominations will
re-open October 1st to accept submissions for the 2011 GateFic Awards.

Nominees for the 2010 awards have until midnight September 11th to
accept or decline their nominations. Voting does not open until
September 12th, and lasts until September 25th. At that time,
everyone will be able to access the full list of nominations, have
sufficient time to read or view them, and still be able to vote.

The fanfiction archive is entirely separate from the awards. Unlike
some archives with their own awards programs, nominated works are not
required to be posted to our archive in order to be eligible.
Similarly, art and videos may also be hosted elsewhere.
