My sister in law is Japanese, my brother European (blond/blue) and their kids are 1)Japanese features with blond hair/blue eyes and 2) European features with olive complexion, dark brown eyes and straight black hair.

Another girlfriend of mine is also Japanese, married to a blond boy from Arizona, and their kids are all over the place--the youngest has the whitest blond hair I've ever seen and dark black eyes with Japanese features, the oldest one has jet black hair and bright blue eyes.

And Jenn--I'm with you in the 10 pound club. My youngest was just shy of 10.5 lbs. Ouch.

and I can actually see S/J get a blue eyed and blonde kid...buuuuut I must say that in here we have a LOT of blonde people and some dark people, when they err....get together and make babies it is often so that they get red-haired kids out of it. That also must have something to do with genetics.

As for the Dutch people being tall, blue-eyed and blonde....not true. As far as I know I'm Dutch(well...last 3 generations) and I'm dark haired, have really dark brown eyes and people often ask me if I'm turkish. Although I'm according to my last height test 1,71 m which is 5'7" (hope I wrote that correctly) which isn't too small, but for dutch standards it is
Oh and most dutch people/girls have straight hair and I have wavy/curly hair...which is also...different...


Back to S/J, I think with them anything is possible for looks...they just have to make the babies and we'll see*waits*

I'm a quarter Arabic with the dominant features in my family (brown hair, brown eyes, olive skin) and my son ended up with my husband's blond hair/blue eyes (but he got my skin).

All it takes is one little recessive to meet up with another little recessive LOL. And actually there's a family story my grandmother told (a sort of family legend so take it with a grain of salt) that the last name Shoucair (my great grandfather's arabic last name) came from two French brothers who were fair haired and split ways many a year ago. Thus all Shoucairs in the world are related.

And so now there's a legend about two foreigners ending up in an Egyptian camp, their children intermarrying and somewhere we will find a Homer Simpson hieroglyph....

That is a cool family tale!

It's weird that as somewhat of a history buff I don't really care for my personal heritage (I think that may just be a cultural thing ) but I am enjoying the genetics conversation

Am turning my 14 yr old son into a SG1 fan & last night whilst watching PoV - he says "why is it that Sam & Jack are together in every alternate reality but not in the real one?" Even he noticed!! Ah I say, that's what we'd all like to know....

And can someone explain the randomness of the S/J theme in PoV? It seems to pop up at odd times - or am I being dense?

My grandma was 100% Italian (dark skin/brown eyes) who married an Englishman (fair skin/blue eyes), so my uncle and aunt were born with dark skin like hers, but then my Dad was born with the fair skin. I always asked my Dad why my sister and I weren't as dark as our cousins. They had these great tans year round. So I was told that I look like the Northern Italians. Is that true about Italy?

I can see Jack and Sam having a child similar in looks to the girl in Grace.

Well, I live in the North of Italy and in general it's true that we have fairer skin ...but it's not rare to find people with blue eyes/blond hair in the South (you know...Normans ). We are a melting pot of different races (Romans, Celts, Germans, Frenchs, Normans, Spanishes, Austrians...uhm it seems that almost all European people tried to conquer us! )

LOL to the "really nice review" part. Cags is forever reviewing something I've written, complimenting me on the "great foreshadowing" or somesuch. I'm always scratching my head and saying, "Huh? I foreshadowed something?" So her reviews often make me go back and reread. Then I sit back and thing, "Hmph. Guess so, eh?"

Sometimes I do read my fan fiction if I am in the mood to so or if I have sequel planned and I don't remember what happened in the parts I wrote before the sequel.

RE: Fandemonium. I contacted them recently and they're not taking submissions from new authors, which is a bummer.

And...rereading to find out what you've said in the past...oh yeah. I'm constantly going back on the Campfires and checking dates, names, comments, etc... to make sure they're all aligned properly. I did screw up on Miles, actually. He was meant to be six when I wrote him and I said he was eight. Two years later he was still eight. Oops. Time dilation in reverse?

eReader (OT, but since I use it for mostly S/J fanfic...)

I asked Santa for a Sony eReader and Santa delivered. Now I owned an original Sony REB1100 "back in the day" and loved it, quite literally, to death. I thought, researched, thought, researched some more, and decided to retire my PalmTX from fanficdom (and since the iPhone supplanted the PDA anyway...) and put said eReader on my list.

I'm...disappointed. Mainly because I have discovered, to my chagrin, that I do most of my reading at night - and the reader is not backlit (which I knew but decided was worth the risk). So...dilemma. I'm considering selling it and going back to my trusty Palm (which I thankfully did not sell) until the iPad 3G drops into my price range.

Why share this here? Because if I sell it to someone here I'd leave the 2oo+ already converted to PDB fanfics on board. If you're at all interested (do you research on costs and whether it'll work in your country, send me an email at "polrobin-at-hotmail-dot-com".

Ah but I do that because you are always so very appreciative of reviews. Actually a lot of the authors on here are. Most of them, I would say. It goes a long way to mkaing it worth while reading the fic in the first place, IMO.
I just wish I had more time to read fanfic and I'd R&R all the great work here but I tend to go in fits and starts and then gorge myself on a backlog once every few months. I've been in a very not fic reading mood lately (it's a winter thing) so your campfires have been about the only ones I've read. Roll on spring when my general Life-Mojo shall be restored again.
