In my opinion the admiration and respect is the foundation for the ship. It's like ship zero. Without this we'd have no ship.

I would have voted for Teal's I've said this before, though maybe not on this thread, that I absolutely love, love, love the friendship between and . A large part of that love comes from his protection of S/J and their relationship. One of my absolute favorite shippy scenes is from Metamorphosis when Jack tells Sam to get some rest and then she looks at Teal'c and lays her head on Jack's shoulder and Teal'c acknowledges the look and turns away. There's a whole conversation in that look!

Plus, Teal'c is the big scary Jaffa with a heart of gold. Look at how passionate he is about everything, especially his ladies. I think he is truly baffled by this "rule" that keeps S and J apart and though he respects them for upholding their beliefs, he truly hurts for them in the process. *sigh*
