      We never really find out who Grace was... it's really open for interpretation. You can see her as Sam as a child, the inner child, the daughter she wants to have, the daugther she will have, and of course my favorite.... Grace the future daughter of Sam and Jack

        She's never fully explained. The writers left her up to the audience to decide who or what she represented. Some options are the personification of the cloud the ship is trapped in (hallucination!Daniel's idea), Sam's inner child/the child she used to be, or even the daughter Sam may have had if her life had gone a different way (I remember AT saying in an interview that this is the idea she went with).

            Lol Maybe it's just me but I love the idea of Grace... and of course it opened the door for tons and tons of fanfics!

              Well, Daniel sorta represents her intellect, and she spends a lot of the time just getting irritated at his constant suggestions when she's trying to work Teal'c comes across as a little creepy when he shows up, but in a 'looking out for her' kinda way... Hold on, lemme find some transcript quotes so that makes a bit more sense

              And yeah, the idea of future-child Grace is quite sweet

                You really should watch the episode there are so many great moments, though I'm a little biased! I love all the 'Sam' episodes. I also love Death Knell in season 7... wow Sam took quite a beating that season, didn't she?

                  It was nice to have a few episodes focused on her (although Death Knell still featured Jack and Teal'c a lot too), especially towards the end of the season, even if it did bring us Pete...

                  Always felt Sam didn't get as much episodes focused on her, unlike the guys.

                    I did a little chart awhile back as to how much focus each character got, and came up with (in this order): Jack, Daniel, Sam, Teal'c.

                      CARTER: I know.
                      TEAL'C: If you sleep, you will die.


                      Daniel's first chat with Sam:

                      JACKSON: Yep, I'd say you're stuck all right. Oh come on Sam, you're running the same diagnostic for probably four hours now. What makes you think the results are suddenly gonna change? Sam? Hello?

                      JACKSON: I don't know, depends on who you ask. I thought I had a certain je ne sais quoi. Timing was so so.
                      CARTER: No offence but I really don't have time for this. This is ridiculous, you aren't even real.
                      JACKSON: Well I'm not so much me as I am you really. Part of your subconscious mind. So am I real? That's up to you I guess. Although the Socratic complications by my being here are quite fascinating.
                      CARTER: Daniel.
                      JACKSON: Look, you just need some help, that's all. Can't you just try to go along with this?
                      CARTER: You're me talking to me?
                      JACKSON: Yeah. Basically.
                      CARTER: All right you have a point. I could use some help.
                      JACKSON: Thank you.
                      CARTER: Okay, what do you ...I ...want?
                      JACKSON: Well I think you're going about this all wrong.
                      CARTER: This is helping?
                      JACKSON: Wait a second, you've been looking forward to studying this gas cloud for weeks now. I mean isn't that the real reason you volunteered for this job in the first place? Now you're here, finally here and you're wasting your time running endless hyperdrive simulations.
                      CARTER: In case you hadn't noticed, I've got a small problem on my hands Daniel. Mainly that I'm stranded.
                      JACKSON: Inside the very thing you've been looking at through a telescope for years. Come on, it's a chance to study something rare and exciting up close. Seize the moment.
                      CARTER: Seize the moment?
                      JACKSON: I'm just saying, it's something new, something we've never encountered before, you're ignoring it. Does that sound like you?
                      CARTER: Daniel, I can't even think straight let alone stay awake.
                      JACKSON: Look, Sam, you have to check this out. Trust me, it's important.
                      Daniel disappears.


                      They both 'visit' her again, and it really is so interesting to see how Sam sees the pair of them, and what parts of her psyche they represent in her hallucinations. But as Meredithe said above, you really should just watch the episode as it's so good!

                        I agree there are tons of Jack episodes... I love him to death, but I wish they had given a few more to Sam and they seemed give her a lot less air time in the last two seasons which is such a shame. I know we've talked about why that happened but it's still a disappointment... at least I've got tons of AT on Sanctuary to cheer me up

                          It's not just you! I love the idea of Grace too, I'm just going to give her a different name in my story. Because the name "Grace" as Sam and Jack's daughter seems to be overdone, in my honest opinion.

                          This doesn't stop me from loving the character.

                            Really? Huh, I could have sworn Teal'c had more than Sam did. Then again, I'm usually a bit bored throughout "his" episodes, since they often feature him more heavily than when the others have their own episode (probably because he's an alien and they're about his past or symbiote), so there's a chance it simply feels like he has more to me.

                              Grace (or Sasha Pieterse, really) has such a cute face! I also think she did an admirable job for a kid her age and her character was very sweet.
