The only Katherines I've come across reading S/J fic were misspellings of Catherine Langford... Not sure if I've ever seen Katie O'Neill either for that matter.

I've used Sasha once because the name, for some reason, got stuck in my head and then I realized it was because of Sasha Pieterse, who played Grace...

I love the story The Naming Game by Dream Weaver 85. Regardless of what you think of the other kids' names, the lengths Jack goes to in order to name his baby girl Carter just tickles me.

I've always thought that Sam's mother's name was "Thea" or something like unto. In "Jolinar's Memories" when they find Jacob, he mutters something like "Thea" which is what draws Sam's attention to him. I'm thinking that she knew it was her dad moaning because he (like Jack calling for Sara when he was losing consciousness in "Solitudes") called his dead wife's name. I think that hearing Sam's voice would have jarred Jacob's thought process towards his wife, and he called out for her in his delirium.

That's what I hear too, but I think it's kind of random. Meaning, I like the idea that Jacob called for his dead wife "Thea" but I think the script probably said Sam.

It was actually a good fic, and with a very good explanation for the name, Jack was dead and Sam wanted to honor his son. Of course it was explained more beautifully. LOL. Remembered another name: Meggy

I like Carter for a girl too! And Sarah is a really bad choice, especially seeing as how so many people still use the spelling from the movie (Sarah) for Jack's ex-wife.

In some fics Jack never had Charlie with Sara, but with Sam (usually pre-series or Continuum AU). Or they got together and then had a baby they named Charlie, without Jack having had a kid before.

Oh, I've seen one where they named their daughter Jacoba or Jacova (after Jacob anyway), but called her Covie...

Do adopted kids count too? Since those usually come with a name already.

You know the other day I was checking ff.net to see how many stories there are in sg-1 section, and while most of the fandoms have around 3,000-5000 stories, sg-1 has 25,000 plus, Don't know how many are S&J but hey, it's still a crazy number compared to the rest.

Carter still sounds weird to me, but, on the other hand, in English you use some names both for girls and boys This is just impossible in Italian! For example, I think that it would be a hell for a girl named Andrea to live in Italy!

I never really got the naming their daughter Grace thing. I get that the girl in the episode is probably the daughter that Sam thinks she could have but in that episode she also decides to give up on any kind of romantic relationship with Jack, therefore the daughter would be someone else's surely? So why would she name a kid she has with Jack Grace? That's my take on it anyway, I guess it depends on how you interpret the episode.

I have never thought of Grace as Sam's dream child. I've always seen her as Sam's conscience and the name "Grace" to be from the saying "Saving grace." I even made a video based on the idea. "When Sam was injured and alone on the Prometheus her memories of Jack helped give her the strength to get home. The title is a play on the episode title "Grace" and the meaning of the phrase "saving grace" which, I feel is what the whole episode is about. My American Heritage Dictionary definition of the phrase is "A redeeming quality, especially one that compensates for one's shortcomings" which makes perfect sense to me with regard to the title of the episode. Sam's "redeeming quality" is what saved her and the crew, but at the same time she confronted her "shortcomings," with regard to loving and being loved."

The video is my feelings about how she may have spent some time on the ship thinking about that loving and being loved thing.
