XFChemist, I love your video! I also noticed, you have that one slo-mo shot from Heroes when Sam sees Jack get shot. I know in the production release we hear her yell "Sir!" but in watching your slow-motion shot it looks to me almost like her mouth says "Jack!"

Which makes me wonder if during shooting Amanda/Sam didn't in fact shout "Jack!" and they changed it to "Sir!" in an ADR (looping) session.

Hmmmmm.

Now everyone rush to your DVDs and play that bit really slowly! I'll wait.

Null and Void. He didn't know they were getting married, and therefore the contract would have no legal standing.

And I was inspired to do a teeny little fic by an avatar pic of Sam/Jack that I saw during Shipsgiving. I posted the short version of it on that thread, and have since tweaked it.

It would be no more legal than any "marriage" that was the result of a date rape drug could be considered legal. That's what the ep was, to me. I've always disliked that sub plot.

I agree with you on the non legal part. As for the other point you made, I don't know. Kynthia did not mean ill, she acted according to their cultural norms. So, this seems more of a cultural misunderstanding to me.

I'm going to echo Lilac here - there wasn't any malice intended by Kynthia. The entire planet had a maturity level equivalent to most frat houses and about as much understanding of the world around them (in so far as they couldn't conceive of a world outside of their own). I'm not arguing it was right, but I don't think it's quite the crime that date rape would engender (speaking as someone who's watched several friends deal with the aftermath of such a horrible situation).

What surprises me is that they didn't have some sort of protocol for dealing with food and drink on other planets. I could see if they were in a precarious situation where they might piss off the locals to the point of want of conflict, but these people were clearly unarmed and fairly carefree. Weighing risk against risk, I'm thinking they should have refused food and drink and stuck with their own packs. I mean, what about food allergies? Or pathogens? There's a reason you're not supposed to drink the water in Mexico folks.

Overall I don't like the episode because we have outlandish costumes and cheesy sets - this was back when it looked like they were raiding the local Halloween store for their version of ancient culture outfits
