Quickly, before I go through the rest of the thread today...

1) YES, you guys can snurch away and repost at your leasure. In fact, since my "real" handle is on all of 'em, you can post them anywhere you want. The only thing I ask is that you keep the PkGrl on all of 'em.

2) Yeah, when I was cropping pix, I made a POINT of keeping that hand in pocket in view. I was CERTAIN that someone here would appreciate the "pocket porn".

Dying at your pics and this story! How old is his daughter? Am I understanding that he said the F word? lol he is so cute!

Well, in the mini, we wrote the F word... but at the con, when he was reenacting his daughter's reaction, he did say the F word... on stage... knowing there were children in the audience! Which is where the sudden "holy cr*p, what did I just say?" expression came from.

I think his daughter's around 10 now. I don't know for sure, but based on a few details that came out during FS, when she was about 5 or 6, I guessed that she was about the same age as my friend's daughter, who is 10 1/2 now. Plus, kids under the age of 9 don't usually cuss and can rarely extrapolate words they're unfamiliar with... and based on Ben and Fran's previous (and lightly detailed) family stories, I SERIOUSLY doubt that their kids are allowed to cuss at all. Let's just say, I'm basing this guess on over 20 years of experience working with kids.

It all started when Ben didn't know what his character name was going to be and the initials were given out as MM. In a couple of interviews he joked about Mongo's (a Monty Python ref) and Mullett hair-do like MacGyver... Monty Python being a fav. show of his. Various Farscape threads were calling out for this to be his call-sign.


At the breakfast meeting at this year's con, he said that he'd tried to keep Mongo as his pilot call-sign (y'know, instead of SHAFT)...also shows how he trawls the net as he knew that people were requesting this.
However, he was over-ruled by the SG PTB... he was probably kidding, but it shows that he's in-touch with the original joke and loved the shirt reference!

Actually, he wasn't joking. He said on stage at the con that he really fought for Mongo as Cam's call sign. But, since he thinks it's not his place on the SG-1 set, he let the writers do their thing, and Shaft is what they came up with.

He'll always be Mongo to us!!!

That would be a difficult sell to your kids. I thought his wife said they don't watch Stargate so I assumed they wouldn't have watched Farscape either. Maybe they are old enough now? But the family moments only makes him more endearing!

Just filling in blanks for you guys, as the questions come up.
Fran said that she and the kids don't watch SG 'cause the kids have to get to bed about that time, and if they even hear the theme music, they come running to the TV to see dad! It was a bitter-sweet story. They've seen FS, and when Ben was doing his "homework" for SG, he watched the DVDs with his son (maybe not the pilot eppy though), so I'm sure everyone has seen them by now. I'm sure Fran tapes them so the kids can see dad's eps when it's a more appropriate time for them. They do have homework and stuff, as well as all their other kid activities. Busy lives.
