Hi everyone, I'm not going to be around from Friday for about a week or two as I have to have some urgent surgery.

I have a detached retina. I woke up this morning and couldn't see out of my right eye. I've spent all day today going from my doctor to a specialist to the eye hospital and I'm scheduled for surgery on Friday. I also have a tear in my left eye as well so they are going to do that at the same time. Hopefully I'll only need to spend overnight in hospital and come home Saturday but I have to lie face down for a week of recovery and I'm not sure how much sight I will regain in my right eye after the surgery. The doctor said I should get most of it back but as with any surgery there are no guarantees.

So everyone cross your fingers and please send some good thoughts my way.

Oh and send some good thoughts to my Mum too 'cos she's looking after me and a bed bound RoX is a bored RoX and a bored RoX is BAD

Cool. My dad bought me a walkman when I was 9 and had one of my eye operations. The worst one was when I was 12, because they did part of it when I was awake...

Hehe... a teacher I know just posted a photo on his blog, of a poster he has had up on his white board for the last few days. The students had to answer questions about the message of the poster and what visual and verbal techniques it uses.

So when Sam was little, what do you think she did to drive her mother absolutely batty?

I bet she also had a bit of daredevil in her-climbing trees, wading in creeks, wandering off into the woods to make a fort, all the things my aunt use to freak out about when we did them as kids. (She'd call my mother to come get her boys out of the tree, and my sister, brother, and I would go up with them instead!)

Bet her mum was glad when she learned to read.

Until she started pulling apart toasters. And the lawn mower.Yikes! I can't even remember (anymore) what was in a typical kitchen in the 70's!
