This is a cranefly here (don't click if you hate flying wotsits / bugs.) You might know them over there by a different name. They're commonly called daddy long legs here although that's confusing as I think you guys call a type of spider that too.

Anyway, they don't bite or sting but they are just about the most annoying things at the moment, they come out at night and bumble around getting in the way, crawling on the floor, around the tv screen, getting tangled in your hair and trapping themselves inside light fixtures. They appear to be quite brainless.

Hmmm, y'know that whole description could be applied to ONTLL's old Rourkie-pie.
