Fanon has Jack as a bit of a luddite, is there canon evidence of that? Most people I know with a telescope for starwatching have nifty computer programs for plotting star positions and the like.

Fanon gets an idea in it's head and then runs with it and it becomes a trope; used over and over again.
Such as Jack calling Daniel 'Danny' or 'Spacemonkey', if you read some fanfic, you'd think he called him that on a daily basis.

Not that I could ever object to Spacemonkey!

There was a fabulous story posted somewhere years ago, a satire based on a lot of the fanonish stuff that's taken off - "Danny" and "Spacemonkey" and Daniel always hurting himself, I think they socked him into a coma, Teal'c carrying Daniel everywhere.... very funny stuff.

I usually just go back to either the DVDs or the screencaps when I get muddled on canon and fanon because.... after ten years of eps and the freakish amount of fanfic out there.... eeeesh....

And NOPE, love doesn't get ANY more fine than that!
