Thanks for asking. I use caps I’ve made from DVD’s. Actually none of the pix (straight caps or sigpix) I’ve put up in this or any of the threads are ‘raw’ caps (meaning I capped it & uploaded it to Photobucket without ‘touching’ it first). All of them have had something done to them -sharpening the focus, color or contrast fixing, lightening the pix (most caps show up darker than they were when you viewed them in action), sometimes cropping….
For the sigpix though… They are usually made from 2, sometimes 3 different caps, sometimes caps from different eps. None of the sigpix are from one cap alone.

For this S/J that you asked about:

I had caps I’d made from Season 2’s “Family”. I fixed the color a bit, lightened it a tad & definitely sharpened the focus & put them together in PS’s Photomerge (leaving enough blank space in between to clone/paint background & some foreground between so I’d have room to put the caption in) Here's the raw untouched caps full size 800-ish pixels if you click on the button in the window:

To get the last sigpic that I “wore” (the 1st one I’d done using layers versus Photomerge in PS):

Took this raw cap below & sharpened the focus & color corrected it…

And took out Sam and put her into a cap that I’d already scrubbed/fixed/posted a while back with Jack…

I like it.

I'm a website designer/graphic artist by trade and use photoshop all the time. I should have known the image was "tweeked" a little (or a lot as the case may be...)

Go up to the top of this page and click on My Controls. Then look down the left side column and you can Edit Avatar. You can choose one for now. I don't believe you can create your own avatar until you have a certain number of posts. Hope that helps!

That's a good question. Looks like you have a lot of posts, Gatebee. Shouldn't you be able to have a custom avatar yet? How many posts do you need before that's possible?
