He did keep the jacket. I think he wore it to a convention.

I'm also pretty sure he wore it in the season 9 epi "Ex Deus Machina" when he goes to meet the missing man's wife at the diner.

Not really sure if that's a spoiler, but it's always good to be on the safe side.
