Hi folks,

just peeking in from the gutter for a moment. I've heard that not everyone is too happy about the way things work in here, so I thought I should remind everyone of the picture posting rules once again:

There is a great way to attach pictures to the thread, using them to make thumbnails so that folks can see what's there without that same picture downloading over and over and over. Just use the attachments button below. This is the preferred way of posting pictures!


If you choose to put the photos in your post, they do have to fit a couple of criteria;


They cannot be larger than the forum boundaries, 300x400 is a good size. They cannot be larger than 75K.


If they are called from another server you must have permission to hotlink to them. Links like this do put a drain on servers and too many folks linking to too many pictures has been known to take a server down every once in a while.


You cannot quote the pictures in your replies. Multiple copies of the pics just drain more bandwidth.

Last but not least, please do not post pictures that spoil season 8/9 of Stargate SG-1 or season 1/2 of Stargate:Atlantis! Feel free to post links to those pictures with the appropriate warning of spoilers though.

Please remember: these rules are not here to diminish your enjoyment but to make this thread accessible and enjoyable for everyone - including those forum members on a slow dial-up connection!

Oh and btw about the attachements... I can't see them properly, I only see a pixlated pic, even when i click on the thumbnail... is that just me?

I think maybe what she's not saying is take the time, or don't inflict a lot of huge piccies on the dialer-uppers...Or even just a lot of pix at once. We've gotten a bit spammy with our thread lately. It's not like there's a race to anything, and until season nine premieres, there's not a whole lot of stuff we haven't seen. How many *really new* caps come out of a new capping of an episode?

Which begs the question, 'why bother posting anything at all then if nothing is ever new?' Well, because we can, because it's fun to squee over favorites, becuase our hormone levels demand a little body porn from time to time. Posting pix is topic of our thread, but a few caps that make me go Ooo! is much better than a hundred caps that make me go *yawn...*

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone by sounding like a mod when I'm not, but I feel like the length and depth of my involvement in the thread gives me not exactly a right to feel protective of the atmosphere, but certainly a reason.

I can't wait for season nine.

Indeed, I think Bling and Feli are right, and we've ALL been guilty of a little spamming. Runs to a big number are one thing, but yeah, the frame-by-frame runs (NOT singling anybody out) even take my DSL a long time to download. I'm all for capping, but restricting your capping spree to a few REALLY good, new, intriguing shots might be a better way to go. Spamming ALSO goes for the three-word posts, like "ooo great piccies" and "yeah me too." We love everybody's contributions, but we really need to work on not being so lax about the rules. Okay, geez. I'm done now. [/mod]
