I think the Alterrans (Ancients) already invented the stargate when they left their galaxy for the Milky Way. Its just that they never been to our galaxy before so there was no stargates here so they had to come in ships and that took thousands of years. They took so long probably because the two galaxies are so far apart or their hyperdrive technology was not as advanced as later on or maybe they made a couple of stops along the way. Once they got here, they built many stargates and spread them throughout our galaxy.

Well, they are ascended alterrans, and ring - stargate technology is similar so i don't think it would be quite that difficult.
Besides I'm not talking about an actual stargate, just something similar to the one Orlin build, capable of 1 trip and only capable to dial 1 gate.

step 1 send a prior to the nearest wall mart to get the materials, or let him order them online
step 2 tell him how to build it
step 3 let him go through and spread the word

I agree, the Ancients could have been shielding a lot more than just the MW from the Ori.

Look guys it's still really early in the season, we may find out later on that their whole galaxy is populated with stargates, just have to wait and see.

Or maybe, since the Ori are Ascended, they knew how to create and sustain a wormhole. And since the ring technology is their own, they put two and two together and figured out they could use that technology to dematerialize something for the trip through the wormhole.

Possibly, since they were Ascended and Daneil alerted them to the existence on the Milky Way, they saw a 'Gate and decided to make one and poof it was there.

Or even possibly, just like all the other explanations, since they were Ascended, they tapped into a wormhole themselves and put a Prior through.

They are ascended, there was a communication device, and rings already on the planet, don't see why they wouldn't have a Stargate, plus there is all of that ascended knowledge, it could have been simple to create a stargate, they can also manipulate reality, like Oma in "Full Circle," she brought forth a Stargate, Sg-1 could travel through it, but it wasn't really there, it disappeared when they left the planet.

It would have been spectacular, and further proof of the Ori's power, if the normal event horizon that we see, was made of fire, and the Prior walked out of the flames, that is what should have been done, to further illustrate, the difference between the power of the Ori, and that of the Ancients.

The doci that lit up on fire inside the SGC came through the stargate to the planet where they first met him. Doesn't this mean that the Orii either have their own stargates, with enough power to connect to another galaxy, or at least some sort of similar transportation device that is compatible with the stargate?
