Australian Con's 2008

BOBW has been officially cancelled for July but they have a line up for November...as much as I would love to meet the guests, I just can not afford the ticket which doesn't include photo or auto ops...to me, if you pay to attend an event...whether you go as just a daily attendee or VIP, everyone should be entitled to a photo and/or photo op...

The numbers for July have not improved, therefore it saddens me to have to say July is cancelled, let's go for Nov. We have been waiting to be able to announce more guests, but whilst we wait we thought we should let you know what is happening.
So the details for Nov. so far are:
The dates in Nov. are, as mentioned in our Feb. 2008 up-date, Nov 14, 15 & 16th 2008.

"Suzanne Wood AUTHOR OF Stargate SG-1 The Barque of Heaven Published January 2008, will be attending our event and will be have copies of her book for sale, so you may get it autographed by her."

I had the pleasure in meeting Suzanne Wood at the Chris Judge event in April and she signed my copy of Barque of Heaven...she's a lovely lady and although I have not yet read the book as I am still currently reading another, I can't wait to read it...the synopsis is great.

I'm going to head out to the Perth Supanova expo on the Sunday - the line-up's changed so much, I'm not even sure who's actually gonna be fronting up! I think Jewel Staite is Morena Baccarin's replacement - if so, she and Nichelle Nichols will be worth teh price of admission!

Gotta support a local con - so they get MORE out here in the ol'West!!! We are so neglected!

I hope Joe Flanigan remembers the 'surf report' I gave him about West Oz and signs up for a con if it happens here - hell, I'll personaly escort him to the best surf breaks in Maggs!!!

Fans of David Nykl (Dr Zelenka), Paul McGillion (Dr Beckett) and Alan Tudyk (Wash - Firefly) will want to head up to sunny Queensland in NEXT WEEKEND for GenCon (5th, 6th July). Ok, its a gamer event, but the guest lineup is pretty cool.

Up until recently they had two Battlestar Galactica guests coming, but last minute changes to filming meant the guys are now coming for an event next February, and Stargate/Firefly fans get all the joy...

So yippee - really excited to see Alan again and my first time meeting Paul McG. & David Nykl so what fun.

WTG, Tal!!! Glad you're getting across to Brissy! Wish I could, but I just spent about $200 at Supanova in Perth, meeting Jewel Staite, Nichelle Nichols and Kandyse McClure!!

Those of you already thinking about going to the Stargate event in Melb/Syd two weekends after Armageddon (15/16 Nov) now have an extra reason to be happy - they have just added Kavan Smith (Major Lorne, Atlantis) to the lineup.

See, you can't just come for Armageddon - you'll have to stay an extra couple of weeks!!

These events will be the more relaxed one day format too...

The Cultureshock website has all the info as usual...

I thought the other event was the weekend after Armageddon...lucky I didn't put in for my holidays yet!!! I have emailed Scotty twice and as yet haven't heard from him. Maybe I should email again?? Thank you for the heads up pfalcon!! BTW...how you been??

You're confusing it with the Vortex event in Brisbane, which is the week after Armageddon (David Hewlett and Gary are their guests).

David flies home after that, and Gary sticks around, and is joined by Dan and Kavan for Sydney/Melbourne events the following weekend again (15/16th).

Thus Brisbane people get an opportunity for a local event, but those of you in Melbourne or willing to travel will get the best of everything obviously

Otherwise, life has been busy. Got a stack of work on, as well as the need to prepare for Armageddon again... Going to see the Dark Knight at IMAX this weekend. it was supremely cool on the normal movie screen, so I can't wait to see the IMAX shots!!
