Oh! Forgot to ask... for the JtR walking tour, where is everyone meeting up and if I promise to behave reasonably well can I come? I'm not at the convention hotel that day and I'll be almost completely jet-lagged because it's the day my flight lands, but I'd love to tag along...

That being said , I believe the plan is to meet at the Tower Hill tube station by 7:30pm. The walk is due to last about 2 hours, and there's a group getting together for some pub grub beforehand as well as drinks afterwards ... (if I got any of that incorrect, feel free to jump in and correct me, of course!)

More the merrier! The Walk begins at 7:30p with a meet-up at the Tower Hill tube as Ames has said. If you have more time and an empty belly, meet at the same location by 5:30p and we'll walk to a local pub for some grub and ale before the Walk begins. Just let us know here if you're coming so we know to look out for you. Wouldn't want to leave anyone behind! Not sure on the drinks afterward, but we can decide then between us who's up for more ale and fun...and warmth. I predict it will be a chilly walk that night.

Time to say hello I've registered here some time ago and I've been reading in this thread and the "Sam Carter/Amanda Tapping Thunk thread" but I haven't written anything yet.I'm 23, Swiss and AT5 will be my first gabit event, first time to see Amanda, and my second convention. I'm looking forward to it

I'll arrive with a friend at the Luton airport. What's the easiest/cheapest way from there to the hotel?

Welcome Xgfan! This may be your first AT event, but you'll be amazed at how included you'll feel right away with everyone at a Gabit event. We're like one big dysfunctional family. You'll have a blast for sure!


Not sure if it's cheaper, but taking a cab from Luton Airport to the Ren will take about 30-40 min. If you take a bus, its about 2 hrs and you may need to book it through National Express which costs approx 25 quid one way for the fare.

The bus will drop you off at the Central Bus Station near Heathrow. From there you'll need to catch another bus (this one thankfully will be free!) which takes about 5-10 min and drops you off right in front of the Ren.

Look toward the end of the page and it will give a list of bus numbers that go to the Ren. There's quite a few so you shouldn't have a problem finding one no matter what time you're coming in.
