Today I read an article that could teach the SGA PTW a thing or two about being PTB.
There is this show over here, that's been going for ten years now and it's going to end ... not because the channel wants it, but because TPTB want it.
It's a show called "Lilly & Marleen" and it starts off in WWII, in a little cafe near the harbor of Antwerp. It progresses over the years to the 50ties period and currently they're in the golden 60ties.
It's about simple people going through the motions and dealing with the events of those years, and it's really funny too. A much loved show of many Flemish people, flirting with a million viewers every episode (a million is pretty good for Flanders which is tiny - there are only 10 million Belgians).
The main writer said that he sometimes felt like he was repeating himself and he felt like he had written it all for now. He still has a few stories left, which will make up the tenth season.
Now, how does this sound? Would TPTW ever admot to that, even after a gazillion more years of whatever Stargate show they "still have left in them"?Heightmeyer's Lemming -- still the coolest Lemming of the forum
Proper Stargate Rewatch -- season 10 of SG-1

I don't think Stargate PTB would ever consider setting an end date on their own. Because, you know, they think they're great, and awesome, and will never run out of ideas and everyone will love everything they do.
Speaking of 'running out of ideas', have you seen the 'Infection' description yet.
Spoiler:Dr. Keller's gene therapy, for those keeping score, was developed from Michael's research in order to physiologically alter the Wraith so that they don't have to feed on the life force of humans any more <...>Now it seems that the treatment doesn't quite work as advertised.
"Hey, let's try a variation of Carson's story but with less depth and a shallow character. Since they enjoyed Poisoning the Well the first time, maybe they won't notice and will like this one too!"

No way for Mallozzi and Co to realize they write crap and end it. Let alone realize they're running out of ideas
