i see what you mean......shep and ronon are connected more on a "soldiery" level..but shep and mckay are connected more on well a different level....and theres just more of a genuine feeling i guess because theyre friends regardless of each others quirks....shep chooses to spend time with mckay and vice versa, they play computer games, play chess, eat late dinners together......ronon is good for physical activities but he seems to spend more time with teyla because they share that connection too.

Actually, I think you are making perfect sense. In a way, I see Ronon as John's best friend and McKay as his brother. John and Ronon have so much in common - similar outlooks, warrior mentality, working out/sports. John and Rodney on the surface have little in common but, like you said, they connect on a different level - they choose to find areas of mutual interest. I found the relationship between Carson and Rodney to be like the one between John and Ronon.

Although I think I'd be a bit scared if he wrote for another character(s). I mean he's got McKay so down pat, he probably wouldn't get a good handle on any other character. I'm not saying he couldn't, I just don't think it would be as in character as some of the other writers. Does that make sense? I feel really brain dead today.

I'm not sure where the hero worship comes from....but I can imagine it happening to us if we had a writer that wrote real meaty Shep whump that made it to the screen on a consistent basis.

I would be more accepting of the McKay eps if they just had him learn from his mistakes and grow a little. MG has done some really good stuff, but he keeps moving McKay back to square one in behavior. It's on step forward and two back.

^Exactly, I'm not a big fan of the Ronon/Teyla scenes either but I adore Ronon and McKay together because they bring out a different side in one another. I guess that's what I'm trying to say, I like them to mix up the character interactions because they can use that to show things we may not see within the normal dynamic.

i think the mckay/teyla dynamic is quite cute too when they let them have scenes together! as you say ronon and mckay are good together too....because rodney isnt a macho macho man..... so we get a different side to both of them. dont get me wrong i love shep and ronon too but i definately see where youre coming from....
i like mixing them up but ultimately its shep and mckay because, especially in season 4, weve seen that friendship progress and its just a lovely thing to watch.

i like the idea of shep going through the ice, but then knocking his head on the way down-we gotta get some blood in there- so hes unconscious and falls into freezing cold water..then ronon has to jump in and save him.......and of course for some reason the gate wont work and they have to stay until someone comes through and so they have to make a fire to keep sheppy warm ..maybe they go to a cave...where shep is suffering from hypothermia and has a fever and is getting all delirious and hes very ill and the team all worry about him.

GAH!!!

Even better.......they can't find any fire wood so Shep has to be saved with body heat (although hopefully not from Ronon or Rodney!!) And of course, Shep can't stay in those wet clothes, so we have to get them off......WOW....this is quickly going into the new realm of Porn Whump. ROFL

Since we don't get much snow down here (last time was on Christmas 2004 and look what happened to us in 2005.....Katrina and Rita!!!) I have to rely on your expertise on Snow Whump. Now get Shep involved in hurricane whump and I can help there.
