Nope, I just used a friend of mine, and a pair of Red Oak training swords, still do too, (though right now against trees), sometimes though it hurts like heck if you get even the slightest scratch from those Oak weapons, even though we had them dulled on the edges they still hurt.
Most of it is from movies fight scenes (weapons of any kind in a hand-to-hand fight like in a James bond movie or the like) then I just really improved on it using normal sticks for a while, then got the Oak Swords, and a friend (that I taught the actual art of sword play with). It wasn't until I watched Hot Zone two summers ago when I figured out a few things (starting postions, moving the feet, that kinda thing) So far so good..... and painful.... *Teyla whimpers in the background* Nobdy heard nothing!
