Gate Trippin', there's another T-shirt for your collection in The Triangle.

Has anyone else seen this film? I was kind of bummed that the version they showed today was done in pan-and-scan, though I suppose it wasn't the kind of film you need to see letterboxed. Still, it meant DH got cut out of a couple of shots. Anyway...
    Spoiler:
I thought it was what it was--a ghost story. It wasn't brilliant; it wasn't horrible. But it was kind of predictable, especially the fate of DH's character Gus. I mean, come on, in his first scene we get a close up on the bottle of pills he's taking so we know he has a bad heart--kind of a dead give away! (pun intended)

Gus was one of three friends, the other two being the protagonist and eventual antagonist. For medical reasons, he got to wear enough sunscreen in his second scene to make him look like a mime, which was amusing. He was a geeky character, of course (wouldn't want to distract from the beefcakes), with a technological bent and plenty of helpful information to share, but nothing to the extent of characters like McKay or his part in Traders, etc. He was responsible for the only real scene involving food...well it was wine, but it wasn't the quick little shot of shots from the beginning. (The wine was a key element to moving the scene.)

What I found interesting was that he wasn't a scene stealer; he was just the third guy. Because of him, you believed these three had known each other a long time. I also liked how he didn't sound or feel remotely like Rodney. He had, basically, two scenes to himself--when he was introduced and when he died. I liked how they made his face go subtly red as he died; a better death than the second person to go. They made him look so scrawny.

Interestingly, DH got final billing. Go, DH's agent!

Oh, and I really liked his hair in his first scene. There was something so cute and everyguy about it. For the rest of the movie, he wears this floppy hat.
Don't say "ka" until you've tried it.

Here's a definition of "woobie" that includes Daniel Jackson as an example.

Here's a wet Rodney from The Eye.

Rodney needs to get the place up and running ASAP, and the Major has shown the greatest ability to interact with Ancient tech. Plus, unlike Miller, Markham and any other Marine who might have the gene (we know there are about a dozen people, though only know five by name), Sheppard will both have less attitude than Sumner's men as well as the obligation of running around turning things on. It is, after all, the reason Sheppard's there.
That's the way I look at it, too. Rodney didn't want to misplace his "on switch". Or, to put it in Doctor Who terms (since Doctor Who is one of the reasons David Hewlett is an actor), Rodney didn't want to lose his Sonic Screwdriver.

I wish! I just want the rest of the series on DVD!

Grant Jansky is hard to cap. He's even twitchier than McKay and the show emphasized it by jerking the camera and making fast cuts while filming him. And Grant is always in his dark closet office.

We haven't had a hand moment in a while. Thank you, Grant!

Even in Traders, David talks with his left hand.

I found these parallel shots funny.

            Traders

            The Brotherhood

In Traders, Grant reads the instructions on how to assemble his bed in the original Swedish. In Atlantis, Rodney reads the instructions about technical devices in Ancient.

Yay! thanks for the heads up. I missed the showing today but they are replaying it on Sunday at 2:30 am. I'll have to tape it to I can be awake to focus on my thunking adequately.

Thanks for the link, watcher. Does anyone else find the word Woobification extremely funny? Update on Woobie HurtRodney clone from The Eye that I snatched: I'm afraid it looks like he will need some physical therapy....for the arm. It could take awhile but I'm just the gal to do it

Is DH in Traders only for the first season????
Remixed old sig...cause I wanted the pretty again!

No, he's in all 5 seasons. David was nominated twice for a Gemini Award - the Canadian version of the US Emmy Award - for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series (phew, that's a long title!)

Fun fact: Teryl Rothery (SG1's Dr. Janet Frasier) was a guest star in one of the episodes David was nominated for.

                  Another cap from Traders.

                    Mmmm...dig that corderoy jacket...

Not! Why can't the costume departments ever seem to dress David in nice clothes? I know, he plays "geeky" roles, but McKay's a geek and he dresses...better than most...

Sheppard: Why does it smell like I'm on vacation?
McKay: (proudly) Could it be the simulated tropical aroma of cocoa butter?
Sheppard: Strong enough for anyone within five miles to smell you.
McKay: Right, like they haven't been tipped off by the Aqua Velva?

Alright, first post since I introduced myself a long time ago....

Anyways, I caught part of 'The Triangle' this morning in between making chili and getting ready for school...it's was ok, pretty much what you expect for a movie titled 'The Triangle.' I kept wanting to shout 'dude, your in the freakin' Bermuda Triangle, of course weird things are happening, what did you expect? and
                      Spoiler:
yes, let's go run around on a 50+ year old ship, that's safe....
Also, I found it interesting that
                      Spoiler:
David's character had a heart condition and kept taking pills, reminded me of Rodney
DH was lovely though, I absolutly adore him in the 'Gilagin' hat. It's also makes me feel good, seeing as I have two of those kind of hats
*spoiler tags added because I'm still not sure when adding spoiler tags is appropriate or not....*

Hey, has anyone claimed Mr Fantastic!Rodney yet? I love his little sweater
