Hi guys. Back to thunking (ran out of electricity for 12 hours!)
I think I'd go for labcoat but I agree blue is great for him and the second half of season 1 blue shortsleeved uniform is even better than either the labcoat or the jumpsuit.

And on the change - I'm so waiting for a fic where rodeny gets shot at because of his beige uniform...

Why are you asking about American schools? McKay is Canadian.

I'm assuming that Canadian sixth graders are about 12. Let me know if I'm mistaken.

My take on it is that at age 12, it was obvious he was a genius. He was taking piano lessons as well as excelling in school. But when his piano teacher told him he would never be a genius at playing the piano, in fact, at most he would just be technically correct but with no art, he gave it up and turned his whole genius to science. In his anger, at his teacher, at his own failing, he decided that a nuclear bomb would be just the way to win the science fair. Not only would it be impressive, but in his mind he had it represent the blowing up, the destruction, of his dream of being a concert pianist.

Yeah, I just fill in the blanks unitl proven wrong by the show.

I thought 12 sounded like 6th grade and I do like you're explanation for how that occured - it's quite impressive fo a 12 year old, shame he got mostly told off for it as far as we can tell. I can so imagine the CIA (was it?) questioning him - do you think he was snarky back then yet? Becuase a young Rodney snarking at worried/paranoid CIA agents just seems so cute and hilarious!

That's presuming he didn't skip any grades by then. Given how smart he really is, I wouldn't be all that surprised to find he skipped most of high school and went straight into university.
