Looking back, I think the problem was that while he knew he was writing stuff (on his blog) that would make people read it, he didn't think about how that might affect the wider fanbase. His attitude at the time was typical: write an episode, any episode, and stargate fans will watch it. They'll moan about it, but they'll still watch it.
Whilst there's an element of truth to it, it doesn't take into account how that affects things further down the line. If something is consistently subpar, people will delay watching it, so much so that when they actually do watch it, they don't count in ratings figures.
Anyway, I'm signing off for the next couple of days for my annual trip to Comic-Con in San Diego. Might be able to pop onto the board and say hi; we'll see what kind of time I have with all the panels I'm seeing this year.
So, have fun while I'm gone, and try not to burn down the forum, LOL!
