Good afternoon, Sparkies! Happy Smutty Tuesday!

Keeps my mind occupied so it can't return to the dark places it's been going lately. Made a big decision today that most likely will cost me my job (better to get fired then to resign but still the result will be the same).

Spoiler:
Well, crap. The swear filter here removes it. It's the f word in front of "yeahsparky".
Over there I'm mathgirl24. You can look at my feed to see some of the people who create the Sparky stuff. I don't want to put that on here cause they're individual people and they might not want the attention.(This is legal notice that any attempt to censor or delete, for the purpose of oppressing fair and open discussion, any statement made by me will be considered a violation of my right to free speech as guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, and will be dealt with in accordance with federal law.)
Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

The way the camera panned was used to show jealousy. I remember an NCIS episode where Ziva was chatting up some guy and they did the exact same pan to Tony's similarly disgruntled face.
Here's a question: if John had known that Elizabeth had gone out with Mike Branton in "Sunday," would he have been as jealous as he was in "Irresistable," or would he have hand-waved it aside? I once read a fic that took place after "Sunday," in which John was very questioning about why Elizabeth had gone out with Mike Branton. To me, it seemed a bit OOC; it didn't seem like John would be the type of person who would make such a big deal out of something that was already in the past and of no further concern to Elizabeth. I wonder if John was jealous in "Irresistable" more out of disgust by how Lucius was influencing everyone, including Elizabeth, around him than out of actual jealousy by how Elizabeth was being allured by a man with impure motives.

Well, looking through my posts, maybe the cute animals percentage is higher.
Originally posted by Sparks of Atlantis View PostWhen I first watched that scene, I remember getting the impression that John was just impatient, as seen when he drums his fingers on the control console. But now, I look at those gifs, and I can see how it's plausible that John is displaying jealousy. He glares at both Elizabeth and Lucius, clearly not happy with either of them, and he presses his lips tightly together as he slouches back against the console. It's amazing how body language can convey so much.

Spoiler:Had a good talk with my supervisor today and learned that because of the position the company is in right now, someone has to go. She had to make the decision who that would be and I told her to put my name at the top. Normally that wouldn't have been possible since as the union rep one is protected from such measures for the duration of one's mandate, but I resigned from that on monday so I'm no longer under that protection. She seemed somewhat relieved to know that I willingly volunteered myself as the one to go if it comes to that. Next week thursday is the end of the month, so who knows it could also be my last day at my current job. With all I know right now, that does make me a wee bit anxious nonetheless.
With all that angst and being sick again... who knows, I might just write good fic.

Ooh, now that is just evil.
On Mike Branton, I'm sure that it would be very OOC of John to bring that up with Elizabeth. When did we ever see him interfere in anyone's personal life? And as careful as he was to preserve his own privacy, I don't think he would ever have said anything to her. If it had been brought up to him, maybe by Rodney, he would have said it was none of his business and put a stop to the conversation. John held everything close to the vest, so he would just keep his opinion to himself.
There is a fine line for a shipper between what is logical and what we wished had been true. We blur that line a lot, which is fine. That's what shippers do. We imagine what we wanted to be true, and ignore the reality of what the writers and actors intended to show us. And I'm fine with that, BTW.

My new fish are a couple, and I named them Sid & Nancy. Actually my sister named them that, after the Diictadons from the British show Primeval (not after the punkrockers directly).Heightmeyer's Lemming -- still the coolest Lemming of the forum

Hello everyone!
I really admire your decision FH and I know that things will work out for the best in the end.

That scene as many have said can defiantly be viewed in different ways. I do wonder if the jealousy part comes from the other moment on that episode when John reacts angrily when McKay tells him that Elizabeth is off making Lucius a sandwich, now this scene can also be viewed in different ways but I do feel personally that when you put those two scenes together then it’s not very surprising that people might wonder, but it’s not really out there like that so people can really view it either way.
That scene is also very similar to this scene from ‘Progeny’ but like with the other one there it can also be viewed in different ways.
