OMG, THIS! The ratings would've gone through the roof if they'd done that!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

This was so much fun as it usually is.

My thoughts on this episode is that it was a very good episode to have directly after ‘TLO’ because in a way it felt that by having John and Elizabeth so in tuned and so close in this episode indicate that they did in fact talk about what happened when they were possessed by aliens and in a way it almost seem as if they have grown closer after the whole experience.

You mean "The Long Goodbye". Shame we don't get to see how much closer they got after that incident!

I did mean "The Long Goodbye" and I dunno, like I said, sometimes it did feel as if they had grown closer after the whole alien possession thing than they even were before, but it could be as people here pointed out when John was captured that it was after this episode that the two of them decided what had to be done if either of them had were to be captured/compromised again. Still, though my point was that while you don’t ever hear them talk about the whole thing again you did almost get the feeling that they had and they had only grown closer after it.

I know this isn't family day, but I wanted to get it out on the forum. This is the link to the album that I've created Sparky Kids, which shows the six year old twins. http://forum.gateworld.net/album.php?albumid=2153

I was actually thinking about this (not this specific scene, but the desk sitting in general) before I read this. I realise that the way the shots were blocked would influence things eg the angles they were shot from etc, but only insofar as where Joe/John was positioned. The would have wanted a shot where they could shoot Torri from beside/behind (angled upwards because she would be sitting down) and capture Joe on the other side. He didn't need to be sitting on the desk to achieve this, he could have been standing. So, the question is....was Joe told to sit on the desk, or did Joe choose to sit on the desk because i) he thought that would be an easy way to fit into the shot, ii) he didn't want to stand for multiple takes, or iii) he thought that that would be what Sheppard would do? I don't know if he's ever been asked this at a con, but I'd be interested in his answer It might not be the one I want though

Not to belabor a point or anything, buuuut so much depends on logistics in scenes. We, and I mean all of us not just the Sparkies, want to see shippy moments, so we forget about things like positioning and camera angles. Usually, when he's in her office John sits in one of the chairs. Maybe they just wanted to change it a little and somebody suggested he sit on the desk without thinking about any shippy implications. Maybe it was Joe because we all know he likes to lean. It was certainly a good way to get them both in the shot and be able to do relatively closeup shots.

However, the flirty looks and that backward glance of his can in no way be construed as just logistics. They seemed to be playing off each other more than I've ever seen them in any other scene. Now maybe they had spent a good deal of time hanging around in there waiting for that scene to be shot. And knowing that they liked to have their political discussions, maybe just maybe, he had pointed out one of the articles in his ever-present newspaper that triggered a hot button response from Torri. And maybe, just maybe, she had bounced the Athosian pot off his noggin a couple of times in frustration until they both collapsed laughing and declaring that the other was stubborn, hard-headed and impossible just before the director yelled "action." Knowing them, it was always a possibility. After all, just recently Joe said that as soon as they met and began to discuss politics, "Sparks flew." Now we know what he meant. Just the few words Mr. SR and I exchanged with him about this made his eyes light up and both eyebrows shoot into the hairline. He even said he never could get her to see his point of view. I didn't have the heart to tell him it was a wasted effort, but you could tell he would never have given up trying to sway her opinions. That tells me they had a relationship that could survive all that and still let them be as friendly as they are at cons. Everyone likes a worthy opponent who can discuss without getting nasty. I really think the chemistry comes from all this.

Goodness knows, Joe loves to ramble with his answers.

Couldn't have said this better myself. Personally, I think it was likely a combination of the above factors. Heck, they may have filmed takes of the desk sitting scenes where Joe is standing at his mark instead of sitting on the desk, just to see which angle the director liked better.
