Drat! I didn't know they did that! Good thing I lied about my age. Er . . . or not. Double drat! No, 26 isn't old (at least to some people) but it's not the best considering where I am in life.

Still, I could be tons worse off in many respects and today was actually a pretty good day. They got me an icecream cake at work and my boss informed me that my 6 month anniversary was today as well so I got a raise. Happy birthday to me.

I actually did try out to be a cheerleader (9th grade I think. Maybe 10th). But I didn't make it. Probably because I started laughing at my choir teacher who was a judge and was making funny faces at me. Rawr.

It's all good. I'm not really the cheerleader type.

I don't remember where the Sparky term came from. I think you can find it by going back to John/Elizabeth at Abydose Gate. I think Pooh mentions where the term came from. I like it way better than ShWeir.

Oh and I also wanted to ask - and I figured this would be the placec to do it - where does the phrase "Sparky" come from?! I get from the context that it refers to Shep/Weir shippiness but how on earth did Sparky come to be the terminology of choice for it?!!

Back in the day, when the ship was all sparkly and new and we were still the underdog, some people tried to use the word "Shweir" for the ship. As is only proper, many people cringed when the word was used. (I loathe name combos. And apparently I'm not alone.)

So someone suggested that if people were too lazy to write out two whole names (a grand total of six more letters), they should just call it something like Sparky. It was supposed to be a joke, but as with many things in life, people took it seriously. (However, I still find the name more appealing than Sheyla, which, if Googled, will get you porn results.)

A.L.- At least you tried out(good for you). I was in speech and debate for years....you would think cheering in front of judges and crowds(had I made it) would have been cake! However, everytime I thought I could do it, the mind numbing fear took hold,LOL

I started looking at Atlantis fanfic during the midseason break of the first season and kept coming across Sheyla. I thought it was the name of a new character in the second half of the season so I skipped those stories.

Other name combos have me scratching my head because I can't make heads or tails of them.
