No, the horns look very straight to me, but I couldn't find anything on steer/cattle skulls and the stuff about the buffalo "felt" right.

Although it still could be a matter of him thinking it "looked cool".

Nah, I've seen people with chinese symbol tattoos and their not Chinese. He probably just got it because he liked what it ment or *shrug* thought it looked cool.
