Oh just saw The Long Goodbye and yup Rodney gets
it again! ha!!!

Woo hoo!! Can't wait for Wednesday then!

your right! where is everybody. this whumping isn't
mean..it's just kinda cute and funny. these people take
things way to seriously...

As you say this whumping is all very good natured - surely people don't really believe its the hurting bit we enjoy watching?!
I love the comfort bit afterwards when everyone is concerned for the person who has been hurt or are trying to rescue them etc. To me it shows the affection between the characters and their developing friendships. I'm not a shipper at all so I don't look for romantic connections - just genuine friendships! Also whumping Rodney is usually fun as he is such a hypochondriac (sp?)!

That picture with his bandage on the outside - if you listen to the audio commentary on the dvd Martin Wood (the director) thinks it was a bad idea in retrospect. Because Carson was hurt Rodney did it himself and wearing it on the outside was supposed to be a reflection of how Rodney always makes sure people know he has been hurt! I must admit I thought it was a bit silly but that's Rodney for you!

are trying to fix the lightening rod.
I just love his red nose and telling the Genii..

Re The Storm/The Eye - poor David and Torri were freezing in that one! When Koyla (sp?) slammed Rodney against the railings he really hurt him because the actor really gets into the role and went a bit overboard

I hear it's really cold in England. And I have
been saying how warm it is hear. I take it
back! Yesterday it felt like winter in England.
It was super cold and damp..went right
through your bones. its the same today. BURRR!

Well it has been really cold here recently but luckily we have had very little rain except this Sunday when I stood for 2 hours getting soaked watching my son play rugby (yes I am that old )

It was nice and sunny today - where are you when you not aboard your hive ship?

especially the McKay lovers. i personally like him as
a character. so..my whumping is for fun..i think the
show would be sad without him.

Oh, I am a McKay lover, and I can get angry when people are bashing this character, but that's all. Fun is good. And whumping too!

Yes, that's exactly the way I see it too. You take the words right out of my mouth! The effort and determination of those who want to help, the comfort they offer, their concern - that's what I like about whumping!
There are also people who say that they like whump because person xyz looks cute when he gets whumped. I call that the 'Woobie Effect'. Some people criticize this, and I agree that it might be strange in real life, where there's often blood and pain involved in bad situations. But I think it works on TV, because most of the time you know that nothing really bad will happen to your favourite character in the end. So it can actually look cute (and in need of a good hug )if a character is helpless and desperate even if the situation is bad.

I love whumping (or squishing, as another fan fic writer and I used to call it before we heard the term whumping) for all the same reasons you all do. I like it best when the guys get whumped, because guys so hate to be vulnerable, it's intriguing to see their reactions when they are. And I like to see (but seldom get to) the heartfelt emotional reactions of the friends of the whumpee; especially the guy friends, since guys are generally harder to wring more sensitive emotions out of than girls. And since I love McKay and Sheppard bestest, they are my two favorite whumpees, with McKay having a slight edge because he's such a fish out of water in fighting situations and David Hewlett's better at frightened-but-trying-to-be-brave than any actor I ever saw anywhere. He can rip your heart out, stomp it to bits, then melt you into a puddle with just one desperate, terrified look from those baby blues. And yeah, I like it best when it's Shep to the rescue, cuz I love to see the boys bond.

You need to open a photobucket (or similar) account on the net and then upload the pics into it from the caps site. You have to tweek them a bit first by resizing them to 700 pixels or less so you need some software on your pc to do that. You then copy and paste into the reply using the yellow button that looks like it has a mountain on it (you can tell I'm technical can't you!), it's called insert image. If it is a spoiler image you need to change the tags from IMG to URL. Really I am not very good with things like this but after the first few it was ok. (If you want to PM me feel free) Sorry if this is stuff you already know I as I see you have posted more than me, but I was lost when I first joined and the help others have given me has been fantastic.

Part One is out here in the UK sometime in April but I want the whole set *stamps foot in tantrum mode* I got Season One from good old amazon.com because I didn't want it in parts so I was hoping to do the same with Season 2. Wonder why they are doing it different this time?

Although I don't like the whumpage. I remember Paul McGillion doing 'a day in the life' thing for some mag, SciFi maybe? He said he had a scene with David where McKay is

strapped to a gurney and addicted to drugs, this is obviously what he was referring to.

He also said something alone the lines of David being great in the scene and all Paul really needed to do was be there while David did his stuff. Boy did David do his stuff! Like I said I don't like whumpage but David was brilliant in these scenes even if I cringed a little because it was so raw.

Well as I said I don't really like whumpage and my reason is rather simplistic, I really love to see Rodney/David smile and so when McKay is whumped Rodney/David is not smiling.

Well I think we have every right to be serious about the way McKay is viewed by some sections of the fandom, I am sick of so called fans bashing the character then at the same time saying oh he is great for the show!

You like the Wraith so you must accept some people will say evil things about them because they are the baddies and not everyone is going to appreciate their finer points but as McKay is not the baddie it annoys me when some sections of fandom paint him that way because the character has human flaws, jeez the character is more human in his reactions than anyone else on the show, maybe some people can't handle that I don't know but I am just sick of it, all I know is that SGA would not be worth watching without him and I think it would die in the *cough* if David left, not that David is ever going to leave he seems quite happy with SGA.

Now just to show I am not soooooooo serious!
