      Except the actor who played Gul Dukat was a lot better at being menacing.

          does anyone turn bad in atlantis? then they could be similar to Michael Eddington.

          Zelenka = Miles O'Brien (btw Colm Meany was in Macgyver as well).

                  As a fellow B5 fan, that comparision doesn't really work. In B5, Sheridan ran first the B5 station and then the Human rebel movement and then the ISA! While he was alive, Delenn was to start with just an ambassador and I don't remember her being Sheridan's equal on the SGA!

                  In Atlantis, Weir runs the show as a whole, Sheppard's just the military hotshot. And that pair aren't shagging each other!

                    Comparisents are relative, meanings not all aspects of there character are goign to match up, lets be real. Sheridan was a warrior and lastely a diplomat, i would equate that to sheppard. Delen was a part of the grey consul not just and ambassador, and later the leader of the the rangers. Lastly, personaly i think weir thinks she has more power than she does.....

                      As another B5 and DS9 fan I really don't see any comparisons between those two shows and Atlantis, apart from the fact that they appear to be arc-based shows. I agree that there are obvious comparisons between B5 and DS9 but Atlantis is quite a different show.
                      It's one thing to make character comparisons but it's another to compare stories. B5 and DS9 are diplomatic and trade-based space stations in the thick of a lot of political activity and intense cloak and dagger stuff.
                      Every scifi show since Star Trek has got villians, engineers, leaders, soldiers, diplomatists, scoundrels, corporeal aliens, non-corporeal aliens, space travel etc etc. so does that necessarily mean that we can pigeonhole them in the same way?

                      A show is much more than the sum of its parts... there's also plot development, character development, cast chemistry and all round good storytelling.
                      I am a little wary of show comparisons only because it sets up unrealistic expectations and SOMETIMES gets people worked up about nothing. I would hate for people to say after watching future episodes of Atlantis that "Atlantis is terrible because it is not B5 or DS9" or that "Atlantis is so predictable because it is a carbon copy of XYZ". That is my only concern...

                        @E.Lily:

                        Very true.

                        I would like it if Atlantis went kind of the way of DS9. But I wouldn't mind if the writers do their own thing here, and it is not a rehash of SG-1. So far it has been very close to an SG-1 style of a show, but it has been pretty good. and good enough for me to trust the writers.

                          A quick warning.

                          Someone gave me a negative rep. on post #2 in this thread yesterday at 6:11 PM. There wasn't any comment on it, and it made no sense to me why is was that post.

                          My point is that you should be very careful what you post here. It might come back to haunt you 15 days later.

                              I actually just deleted a different post in this thread because of that warning. I couldn't risk the chance that someone wouldn't like it.

                                I got a negative rep as well. No comment again. coward.

                                I also got another rep with a gray dot instead of green/red. What's that? neutral? I don't get a neutral option when I'm repping someone.
