Should the writers have made Atlantis slightly more "adult"?

I agree, I liked being able to watch the show with my daughter.

Broad based appeal is the ultimate goal of any family type show.

I liked season 1 the best. It was more like a group of people stranded on an island with all sorts of new things around the corner. It has some suspense but not too scary for kids.

I think SGA began to lose it for me when tptb decided Earth needed to be involved. At that point IMO the city should have been lost to the wraith and the whole series might have just been run out of the SGC.

To have earth and ships backing them made it more like star trek and less like Stargate. It got too big with the ships, the gate hardly being used and the redundancy of medieval villages. I like the different levels of technology in SG-1. One planet could be a rustic village while the next could be a city with unlimted power.

Come season 4--the cast changes kind of killed the show for me. I liked JS as the wraith girl and initially I liked her as an incompetant fill in for Dr. Beckett. But the lack of a smooth transition and no grieving period for the characters made the new character hard to swollow.

Im just saying that the show should be abit more realistic in its portrayal of certain situations.

eg All combat scenes look too composed and clean. Now ive never been in combat but im willing to bet that it is very bloody and alot of coarse lanaguage takes place as it is a life or death situation. Combat is very PG in the stargate universe and it would have been nice if the writers and directors made it abit more realistic.
Ok, i was wrong in my words, sory.I 'll even agree with you there. It wouldn't be bad to be Slightly more realistic in some things.

No I think it's something else, but that's what it's for anyway, every other commercial you seem to hear the words 'erectile dysfunction' at least once

I don't think they're really making a family type show, and for whatever reason family type show aren't the ones that pull in the best ratings anyway. Heroes are Lost type audiences are what they want, but I wouldn't really consider those family shows.

Ok we get it , they make a show for "erectile dysfanctions". How "not cool" is that for the sci fi nerds?

No, that's not the point, the point is the demographic who are watching the show are old, which isn't good from a business point of view.
