One reason I think a media campaign would be good (in addition to the penny campaign) is because in general I think TPTB know that many fans are not happy - but it is easy for them to ignore that. If any of the mainstream press makes a comment about it then it becomes harder to ignore.

I have been to the scifi forums - for some reason I cannot register there to post. My registration never goes thru. If you think this is a good idea then please feel free to post this over there.

Backstep posted this on sci-fi forums in response to MGM's reply to ed263's email:

This doesn't make sense to me. When we were at the rally at Bridge Studio, all the studio workers who came out to talk to us said that it was MGM's decision to cancel. So, I'm pretty sure that's what they were told. Either MGM is lying, or the studio guys were lied to. Hmmmm.
As I take it, the reply wasn't from MGM, but from MGM online. And apparently these are two different parts?

I would look at that statement more as a "out clause", you know "plausible deniability".

I was wondering, a while back Joe Mallozzi took questions for Brad Wright about the cancellation of Atlantis on his blog. Has he posted Brad Wright's answers yet?

            Nope!!

Joe keeps saying that Brad is busy so he has not had the time to answer all 26 pages of questions submitted by fans, but Brad Wright does plan to come on his blog to answer them.

I guess he's too busy to pay attention to the fans that buy his shows and help pay his salary. So sad really!

Hey, I just found on another thread that Entertainment Weekly On Line is asking for the dumbest moves of 2008. Go over to EW and tell them that the dumbes move is cancelling Stargate Atlanties.

              Here is the link:

I read this on SCI-FI forum
Get the campaign actions going NOW as soon as possible ! ! ! Do not wait ! ! ! Preferably while the actors are still under contract and still available ! ! ! .

                          1. The actual penny idea is good. It's harder for people to discard actual money - even a penny than to throw away a xerox copy. The copy goes right in the trash. Send enough pennies and it will crowd their mailrooom.

                          2. Push Youtube viewership of Atlantis. MGM get royalties/view. Emhasize how profitable Atlantis is. Stess that you are also buying merchandise, action figures, books, DVDs, attending conventions, etc.

                          3. Keep sending petition updates.

                          4. Keep sending actual mail to the executives.

                          5. Deluge them with emails

                          6. Deluge them with phone calls to the execs. Be civilized/polite but express your disapointment with Cancelng Atlantis and ask them to reconsider their decision. Carefully failed threats ok + - , but no actual threats. It can backfire.

                          7. Contact the sponors of the show. If you're not on Sci Fi to watch Atlantis, you wouldn't see their ads and by default not see their advertised products and wouldn't be able by default buy them.

                          7. Send public service bulletins to local newspapers, community papers, and thing like the Penny Saver, etc

                          8. Send spot anoncement to college radio stations - most will air it free.

                          9. Get magnets or fliers for your car.

                          10. Post an iinfomation notice on bulletin boards at super makets, pizza shops, etc.

                          11. Post on as many blogs as you can.

                          12. Send a blurb to the TV Guide magazine. Not an ad - just an info blub so they can coment upon it. No charge that way.

                          13. See if any of the actors will be supportive

                          14. See if any of the producers will champion the cause so to speak.

                          15. Establish a high vssbility profile. [/color]

Any thing else you can think of ? ? ?

In regards to getting a star from the show behind us, does anyone think that is possible? It sure would be cool! I don't know if they can though. Although, getting any other famous person that is a huge fan of SGA would help us a lot -- esp. in getting the word out to other fans via those E.T./Insider, etc., type shows. That's how I learned of the Jericho plan. So if anyone knows a famous person that could help our cause, let them know. I know it's a strange use of fame, but why not! At least we know it worked before.
