Being Human (Syfy Remake) - News/Discussion/Spec. Spoilers for most recent ep
it's actually on 3 times to night, 8-9, 9-10, 10-11 (and, if you record it, let it run long, because it runs a couple of minutes long and they accumulate so by the third showing it starts at like 1005 and ends at 1107 or something like that (central time)

So I'm not comparing, I may watch them one day. I don't get BBC America anyways
Really? BBC America is part of the standard digital cable package for me, though I did upgrade to some premium channels 2 years ago for HBO. I'd probably go berserk if I wouldn't be able to watch any of the new Doctor Who episodes.
however given the choice between this or The Cape, Being Human wins hands down.
Last week I would have disagreed with you, this week after just the lastest ep of The Cape and just finishing Being Human - I whole heartedly agree!
This ep is on SyFy about a dozen times this week so if you missed it just check the schedule.
Having watched BBC version of Being Human, I was naturally comparing the two and while they start out very similar, by the end of the 1st ep they are different shows. They are like alternate universes to each other, enough similar to drive you a little crazy but different enough for them to stand on their own.
I was all prepared for this to be a crappy version (partly because it's SyFY, partly because of what they did to Sliders, and mostly because the BBC version (at least S1 - haven't seen all of S2 yet) was so damn good I didn't see how this could compare. But I was pleasantly suprised. Now looking forward to /can't wait for next week.
I like the cliffhanger, definitely not in the BBC version. I don't remember them mentioning anything about their families. And that room Aiden was in at the end - also new.
As for the characters, I miss George - they haven't given Josh those mannerisms, and nervousness and way of speaking that made him so adorable. But I'll see how he develops.
Aiden is similar enough to Mitchell that I'm not sure about him yet. Seems likeable.
The two of them though look like someone cast them as Twilight style characters. I haven't seen the movies, but the look makes me think of the promos and pictures I've seen of them.
So far I actually like Sally better than Annie (the ghost), I like her sense of humor.

I really liked this first episode. I wasn't a huge fan of the original so I was hesitant to give this a chance, but so far so good. I liked all the characters and the acting was decent (Annie was a little off for me, but the actress is charming enough for me to like her anyway).

I'll be interested to see how this goes.
I definitely liked the premiere. In fact, I watched it again on DVR afterwards. I'm definitely interested in the backstory for each of the three main characters. This is just speculation but Josh in particular leads me to think that he might one day encounter the werewolf that turned him. I'm also wondering if he'll eventually be able control his transformations. I'll definitely be keeping up with this show.

First, I'd like to demand that Thunderstorm changes signatures from Xmas back to the lovely arm porn...
Second, as a huge fan of BBC's Being Human (and eagerly awaiting season 4!) I did enjoy this version. I still like the BBC cast better and am having a hard time believing they named the vampire "Aidan" as thats the actors name in BBC's version. It looks like season 1 will come very close to the same story line in both versions, but hopefully it will veer off enough to stand on its own where I can watch both versions comfortably.

Instead of Aidan being the name of one of the actors, here we've got the two Sams.
they'll have to veer off simply because isn't skiffy's season 13 episodes? either they'll have to be really, really slow moving or skiffy will run out of BBC's stories by the end of this season or so cause the BBC episodes are just 6 in a season. Or was it 8? anyway, BBC has a much shorter run.
and thank you, MItchell, i thought his name had changed too but couldn't remember it and was too lazy to google
