Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

Robot Jox. Since I won't be seeing Pacific Rim until it's on DVD, I thought I'd go for that other live-action giant fighting robot film.
It's a terrible, dated B-movie with awful pacing and writing. Still sorta fun though...And now it's time for one last bow, like all your other selves. Eleven's hour is over now... the clock is striking Twelve's.

Earthsea
I haven't read the books, so I wasn't bothered by the vast differences mentioned in reviews. But, I will agree that some of the dialogue was rather cheesy--almost cheesier than the Star Wars prequels.
I did like the dragon, though I wish he had more of a role. In fact, from the blurb on the back, I was expecting more dragons, playing a much larger role. I would have liked the movie much more, even with the cheesy dialogue and cheesy visual effects, had the plot dealt more with the dragons and less--much less, like not at all--with the whole Gibbeth creature "subplot".
I also liked Amanda Tapping's appearance, but again, I wish it was more prominent. It was much too brief, with all of one line.sigpic

Tom Thumb (1959) (more of a fairy tale, actually, but I see those around here)
Dinosaurus! (1960)
Great classic movies. Great showcases of what they were able to accomplish in the late '50s without computers.
Oh, and there's a very familiar scene in Dinosaurus! with the T-Rex smashing a bus.Last edited by McClance; 25 July 2013, 10:11 PM.sigpic
