          Favorite quote:
          McKay: You shot me!
Sheppard: Yes, Rodney, I shot you, and I said I was sorry.
          Ronon: You shot me, too.
Sheppard: I’m sorry for shooting everyone!

              I've only seen the 1982 version. (Liked it.) How's the 2011 re-make?

The 2011 movie isn't a re-make, it is a prequel. Basically it tells the story of the Swedish Norwegian outpost that initially found the Thing and its spaceship and the fate that befell them and eventually leads in to the 1982 movie set at the American outpost.

I really enjoyed the prequel. Its odd to think whilst watching that you are basically watching ghosts and knowing that several hours away at the American site the team are going about their day-to-day business and MacReady is being cheated by the Chess computer completely oblivious to the hell that is going through the Norweigan base and eventually descend on them. Also its fascinating to see everything that appears in the 1982 movie have its genesis in the 2011 movie. It keeps up the tension and suspense and claustrophobia of the 1982 movie and I totally recommend it. Plus, if you do decide to see it, keep watching during the end credits.

I guess it's science fiction. Some of it, anyhow.

Somewhat predictable and a few too many crude jokes for my liking but I enjoyed it.

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.
