Is anyone else excited about the fact that John Twelve Hawks (not his real name) author of 'The Traveler' will actually be answering questions on JM's blog in October?

I read that novel several months ago and loved it.
Not like 28 days later horror... but a more of a mystery horror book.

Ummm...let's see. Off the top of my head?

Mischief by Douglas Clegg. Actually a lot of his novels would qualify in this department. you should check them out.

Already Dead by Charlie Huston. Dark, gritty, and very noir. It's a new take on the vampire mythos.

Night has a Thousand Eyes by Cornell Woolrich. It's an older novel, but it's fantastic.

          The Keep by F.Paul Wilson
. Which, coincidentally, I also think was once a novel on JM's BOTM blog.

Hope that helps. If not, I could probably think up some more.

My English V teacher recommended Michael Crichton, and I have to say his novel Next is really good! I picked up Jurasssic Park as well and can't wait to see how that plays out compared to the movie.

Ooh, Michael Crichton! I haven't yet had a chance to read his books, but I really want to.

I would like to drop in and recommend a few fantasy/sci-fi authors and books.

Storm Constantine - The Grigori Trilogy and The Magravandias Trilogy. Although if you wan to get to know her style of writing from just one book, try Calenture.

Tanith Lee- The Secret Books of Paradys (series), Vivia (which is similar to but better than her Blood Opera Sequence), and The Silver Metal Lover and Metallic Love (two books). I know the last two sound like porn but they're not! Lol

Elizabeth Hand- Waking the Moon, Black Light, and any of her short story compilations.

Robin McKinley- Beauty, Deerskin, The Door in the Hedge, and Sunshine - the BEST vampire novel I've ever read, because it's not just a vampire novel. Trust me you'll like it!

I'll see if I can think of more later.

                        OMG

My mom just bought me Neil Gaiman's new book, The Graveyard Book. It's not even out in stores yet...the only reason she got it was because she went to the National Book Festival in Washington, DC and waited for it, and then stood in line in the rain for hours to get it signed by him. I LOVE MY MOMMY!! She did the entire thing as a surprise

Anyhoo, it seems pretty interesting...it's very dark, darker than Coraline. It's about this boy whose family is murdered when he's a baby, so by chance he escapes and is adopted by the ghosts in this graveyard. The only thing is, the murderer is still out there, years later. I just started, but the first sentence is incredibly captivating : "There was a hand in the darkness, and it held a knife."

I'll be at Costco first thing Tuesday morning.

                            Hopefully they'll have it.

I was hoping that Neil would stop in Victoria on his tour this year. Alas.....looks like it won't be happening.

Going by the "Where's Neil?" section on his website, probably not this year.
