Firefly is indeed very overrated. Essentially ,it is Bonanza in space, maybe The Big Valley in space.Got very Zzzzzzz...... after you'd watched 4 or 5 eps. Imagine 9 seasons of it!

I actually started out very bored with Firefly as well but once I started watching it when there was nothing better on I became increasingly angry over the fact that it was cancelled. It really was quite a good show with some great characters that could have gone on to become real stand outs in the genre.

I liked the first Andromeda season very much (I liked it more than season one of Atlantis which I think was a very good season).I think to this time the show had great potnetial. But with season 2 the quality of the show began to drop dramatical. And after the original creater left it turned into some unwatchable trash
But that seems to be the destiny of almost all Science Fiction shows now (Smallville, Sliders, SG 1): "All what starts well end´s in a well"

I liked Tyr, but I agree about Beka and Harper. Out of all the cast, Harper managed to be irritating with every single line he spoke. Dylan just is so generic, and at times rather man slutty. Beka...just slightly less annoying the two I just named. For me, I can't get into a show if I don't actually like anyone who is IN the show.

I watched Andromeda for one season or two, then gave up. It was fun up until it stopped making sense and the consistantly bad acting finally drove me away. I've tried to watch it now and again but every episode I've caught bits of has made me wince. A good concept can't make up for bad execution.

On the issue of Firefly, Firefly's first episode wasn't even it's pilot, it was what they had to throw together because Fox didn't think the two hour premiere was flashy enough despite airing it first would have made the rest of the episodes make a little more sense.

That's a funny analogy, but I see Stargate as being every bit, if not more, formulaic than even the actual Bonanza ever was!

Go through gate.. encounter enemy... defeat enemy... return through gate. The status quo is almost always maintained, and it takes at least three or four seasons to neutralize a baddie like Apophis or Anubis.

I never thought I'd hear Firefly spoken with the same breath as Bonanza Granted that it's been a while since I've seen Bonanza, I've always thought it was the Patridge Family or Brady Bunch of westerns. Firefly is a lot darker... quirky and very edgy...

Don't forget the awful sound quality. One of the reasons (besides the iffy storylines & lack of much interest in the characters) I stopped watching Andromeda early on was that it sounded like it was being recorded from inside a bucket.

Andromeda started out well. It had an interesting reversal of the Star Trek/Federation above all mentality, and although the costumes were bad, the plots started out entertaining if not always interesting. Yet, by the end of the second season, the show started to spiral downward. Now, the show is nothing but whiny characters who rotate between betrayal and depression. I had to stop watching regularly during the fourth season, and I only watch Andromeda reruns where SG1 cast members appear.

Unfortunately, Andromeda's flaws seem to follow too many shows wanting to mimic the Star Trek formula. So many shows (Firefly, Mutant X, and Earth Final Conflict) tried the group overcoming evil template that the model needs help now. The only shows that survive are the ones that mix the formula up or change the formula, such as SG1's contemporary setting.

I might watch more television if more shows were like SG1, Atlantis, and (the deceased) Dead Like Me.

I never actively thought of that, but it's so true.

I wouldn't say it's the worst show ever since I do keep watching it (for reasons I can't understand) even thoughI think it's absolutely horrible. But the only reason it's not the worst is because I vaguely remember something called Cleopatra 2525. But quite frankly, that actually made more sense than Andromeda.

Sometimes I swear the show should be called Hercules in space. It's the same idea, you repeatedly go around and knock out a bunch of badly dressed locals who have a tendency to grunt and growl like cromagnons and save the day. I'm not even sure what any of the "Science" is in this show. Nothing makes any sense. They could just as easily call it magic and it would mean the same thing there's no logical or theoretical base for this extremely far fetched leap of imagination.

It's just beyond wierd. I'm still going to watch it on Friday (probably because it's on before sG1) and for the hundredth time I won't have a clue what the hell is going on.

Another peeve... What is up with the addition of the busty blonde with the dead eyes and expressionless voice? Are we supposed to be so busy staring at her too tight clothing to disregard the ridiculous plot?

Would it be right to say the writers were disadvantaged and limited cause Lexa Doig had her Pregancy. Making most of season 5 a mis-event, No worth watching

When Lexa Doig returned in episode 17. Everything was back to normal and andromeda improved

Isn't it still incomprehensible, following no logical story arc, with one random end of the world event followed by another random end of the world event, with folks reappearing from the dead here and there with no rhyme and reason?

Isn't that "normal", and how is that "improved"?

(sorry, I just had to ask).

                              Yes, yes and it isn't

I just caught an episode the other night since I heard it's coming to an end and I've got to be there to watch its death throws.

Speaking of throws, Trance teleports and throws fireballs DBZ style now.

On the bright side though it's over in three more episodes.

On the not so bright side it's over in three more episodes.

Calling it Hercules in space is actually pretty insulting to Hercules. I'm not kidding. Hercules was a pretty simplistic show but it wasn't the seizering, puke-covered, ex-pornstar in a clownsuit Andromeda's metaphorically become.

those who are fans I was wondering will you watch the last episode. spoilers I could not believe dylan comes back and the niets are almost at tarazed with a huge fleet and the abyss has the magog iwthin striking distance. how in the hell will dylan and the cw survive. oh and those who ripe this show it is alot better than it is given credit for. sad to think it will be no more shortly. the biggest mistake the writers have made is the countless seefra system stories. after watching the end of season 4 I was hooked anxious to see the aftermath then when they hit seefra the stories sucked. I think it is also bs that the vedrans don't exist anymore that the abyss has wiped them out . the writers should have had some survive for the final fight.

Oh to the guy that says andromeda is the worst ever try watching firefly that takes the cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
