*flinging hands around in despair* Men... what do they know?!
Legend is that he broke it doing The Summer of Sam... although he had it fixed, he didn't bother changing it... Must've have known he'd be doing Kong running around jungles saving damsels in distress..
*sniff sniff*

Okay, so me and my good buddy X-Man saw the movie last Saturday morning in Glasgow, on the whole I give it 8.5 out of 10.
Plot holes: It was never adequately explained where Denham got the map in the first place.
Where did the islanders go when Adrien Brody and co turned up with their "mighty bang sticks"?
How in blazes did they get the zonked out on chloroform Kong aboard the Venture with only a skeleton crew?
sigpic Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.
Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.
Plot holes: It was never adequately explained where Denham got the map in the first place.
The others I could give you, but this isn't a plot hole. He got it; that's all that matters. Lots of things weren't explained in the film because explanation was irrelevant. Where did the map come from? What happened to the original civilisation? Why did all the other apes die out?
Don't know; doesn't matter. Leaving out irrelevant information does not a plot hole make.
At 3hours and 7 minutes total that is quite long allright! It's almost a Titanic, which I think came in at 3:18?
I think if I'll go see it, I better get an Xtra large popcorn and plan to spend lunch and dinner in the theatre

I saw Kong tonight... Holy Smoke... what a long movie... Not too bad... Better than average... good acting but could have been shorter, methinks...
Spoiler:
For a while there I thought I was watching The Lost World with Professor Challenger... Those jungle scenes consisted of one icky moment after another. And why does everything have large mouths and incredibly sharp teeth. Some of the Kong/Anne scenes reminded me of Daniel Jackson and the Unas... probably not a complimentary statement coming from me.
Wow... Adrien Brody... that man can smoulder... Yup, I'd want him traipsing though the jungle coming after me too. *shallow moment*
Don't make me zat you

I loved it. I don't even like Jack Black and I thought he was great. The movie was like being on a roller coaster with very good CG surrounding you, like Universal Studios rides or something-but in a good way. It's no Lord of the Rings but I don't think it was supposed to be.
I still haven't seen this one (I'll wait for DVD), but all of you fantasy fans out there will be interested to learn that Narnia has reclaimed the number one spot at the box office as of Wednesday 12/21. Kong almost certainly will not be the number one movie this weekend, even amidst a crowd of weak new releases. It looks like Kong's a flop. A shame for Peter Jackson.

kong is made 200 million world wide so far i wouldent consider that a flop
thats only 10 million less than narnia a PG rated FAMILY film of coarse Narnia is going to beat it in sales because its the type of movie you can take your entire family to go see
Just got back from seeing it, and loved it! I thought the VFX were fantastic. The story was a fun adventure/romance. I loved that Kong was given a strong personality - he wasn't just a big, menacing brute. His face was extremely expressive! He was a blast to watch - as someone who's spent a lot of time working with zoo animals, I thought his movements, behavior, etc. were incredibly ape-like! They did a great job really capturing the feel of a real ape.
I wasn't expecting it to be so long, but honestly I was pleasantly surprised. They kept it interesting, so I was happy to get the extra time! I will agree, though, that they coulda cut a few shots. They had a LOT of shots of Ann and Kong looking into each others' eyes. And while I appreciate the beauty of it, there's only so many shots like that that they need in a row.
